We are seeking a motivated IACUC Administrator who thrives working in a fast-paced research environment and works closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure our program is in accordance with federal and state regulations, institutional and committee policies, and accreditation standards. This includes providing recommendations to enhance IACUC operations, managing database reports, streamlining policies and procedures, and conducting outreach and training presentations.

Role & responsibilities:

  • Establish and update IACUC database reports
  • Streamline existing and develop new IACUC policies and procedures
  • Manage IACUC meetings, site inspections, and program review by establishing agendas and documentation as well as follow through of next steps
  • Develop and deliver training programs for Science employees involved in work with animals in research
  • Serve as a resource for researchers and animal care staff related to animal welfare and regulatory compliance
  • Prepare abstracts, posters, outlines, primary and review articles, slide presentations, and other materials with Animal Services team
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in biomedical research institute or related laboratory animal science experience.
  • IACUC administrative experience or other regulatory oversight groups or compliance experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for detailed documentation and presentation of scientific research
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations governing the use of animals in research.
  • Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks, completing assigned tasks in an organized, timely fashion while meeting all target deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Professional in IACUC Administration (CPIA)
  • Masters degree, or higher, in Animal Welfare Science

Salary/Pay Range:

For individuals hired to work in California, Science is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role.  We determine your level based on your interview performance and make an offer based on geo-located salary bands. The base salary range for this full-time position is $100,000 – $150,000 + equity + benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please keep in mind that the equity portion of the offer is not included in these numbers.
