As a Human Resources Generalist, you will play an integral role here at Penumbra acting as the primary HR point of contact for assigned client groups, generally supporting managers and below. This role will be responsible for supporting more standard day-to-day HR activities in support of learning and understanding their assigned client groups. This role requires guidance and oversight, and the team member will regularly seek additional guidance from their manager. The Human Resources Generalist follows routine work processes and provides broad HR support with a focus on HR Operations through the entire employee life cycle, including but not limited to employee relations, performance management, job evaluations, job descriptions and support for HR programs and processes. The individual in this role will be required to interact regularly with members of the functional management team and employees. This person will contribute to fostering and supporting a positive employee-oriented and inclusive company culture.
What You’ll Work On
• Builds positive relationships with managers and employees for assigned departments and functional areas.
• Assists with answering general HR questions and coordinating resolutions.
• Responsible for regular review of workflow changes in our HRIS.
• Serves as a liaison for departments, Payroll, Benefits, HR Operations and Recruitment.
• Works with and provides input to the functional management and HR team in suggesting, developing, and working towards solutions for assigned departments and functional areas.
• Helps with evaluating, investigating, and resolving general employee relations and performance management issues. Documents and may prepare reports and shares the evaluation with management and Legal.
• Provides guidance on the performance management process including performance reviews in assigned functional area, as needed.
• Works with managers on reviewing job descriptions.
• Collaborates with the recruiting team and may participate in interviewing and assessing candidates.
• Partners with HR colleagues to support leaves of absence, workers’ compensation, and benefits administration.
• Participates in HR projects and programs.
• Conducts presentations, as needed.
• Consults with the Legal department to ensure compliance with HR laws and regulations
• Conducts exit interview meetings with departing employees, provides feedback and themes to HRBPs and/or HR management. May be involved in coordination of involuntary terminations and communications.
• Regularly interacts within the HR team.
What You Contribute
• A Bachelor’s degree in a human resources or related field, with 2+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent oral, written, verbal and interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills, including empathy, patience, and ability to communicate effectively across cultures and with all levels of the organization
• Basic knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations
• Ability to demonstrate interpersonal, conflict resolution and coaching skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage highly confidential issues with integrity
• Ability to work proactively and independently, takes initiative and ownership, consistently follow-up and follow through on commitments with accuracy and attention to detail

• Basic understanding and knowledge of Microsoft Office products including but not limited to Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook
• Previous Human Resources and medical device, pharmaceutical, biotech, or other regulated industry experience preferred
• Previous hands-on experience working with HRIS systems preferred
• Possess organizational and project management skills and be able to deal with competing priorities with a sense of urgency
Working Conditions
General office environment. Willingness and ability to work on site. May have business travel from 0% - 15%. Must be able to remain stationary and use a computer or other standard office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine, for an extensive period of time each day. Must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information with employees at all levels on a daily basis. Must be able to read, prepare emails, and produce documents and spreadsheets. Must be able to move within the office and access file cabinets or supplies, as needed. Must be able to move between buildings and floors. Requires some lifting and moving of up to 25 pounds.
Annual Base Salary Range: $67,000 - $87,000 / year
