About the team and position
As a HR Business/Talent Partner, you’ll bring a broad range of knowledge to the departments and initiatives you partner with while being a go-to resource on a variety of talent-related topics including, performance management, talent development, organizational development, and employee engagement. You’ll get to roll-up your sleeves as you work closely with our leaders to cultivate and execute talent strategies that will help Carvana thrive. This is an individual contributor role (typically reporting into a Senior Talent Development Manager) and does not have recruiting ownership responsibilities.
You’ll help develop and execute aligned, data-informed talent decisions and introduce carefully crafted programs and processes and ensure they work for Carvana. No day will be exactly the same. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a passion for talent development, a high level of flexibility and commitment, and the ability to tackle ambiguity and process improvement. Most importantly, you will see your insights have an immediate, tangible impact every day in a unique, talent-driven company.
What you’ll be doing:
- Partner with senior leaders in assigned departments in the development of a people and talent strategy and roadmap to support attraction, engagement, talent management, development & coaching, and diversity & inclusion.
- Act as a trusted and credible partner who anticipates needs and proactively recommends solutions.
- Serve as a partner and liaison between business leaders and other People Operations teams such as Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, Leadership Development, Benefits & Leaves and Employee Relations.
- Provide 1:1 coaching to department managers and leaders.
- Conduct talent needs assessment and engage the appropriate SME to determine appropriate course of action and solutions; scan for future trends internally and externally.
- Translate department strategy and objectives into specific milestones and goals to deliver key talent initiatives for the business.
- Create and drive talent initiatives and/or programs within the department to improve talent processes, enhance the employee experience, and strengthen the skills of leaders- with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Monitor performance against key talent metrics, review with business leaders and use the data to help drive people and talent decisions.
- Support performance management, define career paths, and encourage a development-oriented culture.
- Maintain updated knowledge of business needs and challenges to advise and consult on the talent strategy for a growing workforce.
- Champion the use of of HRIS systems with leaders and employees
- Drive large-scale change management efforts within the department, leveraging excellent written and verbal communication skills.
What you should know/have:
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- At least 5 years of experience in Human Resources, Talent Development, Organizational Development, Training or related field.
- At least 2 years of experience partnering with senior leadership on talent initiatives, including coaching managers.
- Experience with HR technology required.
- Solid organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to analyze data to identify solutions.
- High degree of integrity and honesty.
- Excellent communication, including facilitation and presentation skills.
- Ability to coach and motivate others with high influencing skills.
- Energy and drive to accomplish goals, meet deadlines, and find solutions.
- Ability to operate autonomously with limited supervision.
We’d love it if you also have
- A Masters degree from an accredited graduate school or university in Human Resources, Business, I/O Psychology, or related degree.
- Experience with the Workday HRIS.
