The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) position is responsible for supporting business objectives through human resources initiatives. The position serves as a consultant to management and employees on human resource-related issues. The role assesses and anticipates HR-related needs. The position develops partnerships across the organization to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives and values of MEMIC. The HRBP maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business goals and objectives, its culture and its competition.

  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to business partners including but not limited to career development, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
  • Oversee and resolve employee relations issues. Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations in collaboration with senior level HR members.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Proactively identify solutions to staffing challenges, hiring and internal promotions and recommend recruiting strategies and creative approaches to identifying and attracting top talent in the market.
  • Effectively recruit, source and screen applicants; analyzing responses; verifying references; and comparing qualifications to job requirements to make recommendations to managers.
  • In partnership with management, create and update job descriptions and associated competencies.
  • Collaborate with vendor on Leave of Absences and ADA accommodations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, policies, practices and documentation.
  • Assist with employee safety and wellness which includes scheduling ergonomic evaluations and filing First Report of Injury with outside vendor.
  • Complete all state regulated forms regarding separation and wage Information. Attend telephone Fact Finding Interviews, when necessary.
  • In conjunction with Training & Talent Development, participates in workshops that relate to human resource initiatives, including Predictive Index Readbacks.
  • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.

Requirements: 

  • A minimum of two years of working knowledge and experience in multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, employee relations, recruitment, diversity and inclusion, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR designation preferred.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize assigned work, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks, while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software applications. Experience with a Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and Applicant Tracking System (ATS) preferred.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
  • Must be proactive and resourceful.
  • Strong relationship and people management skills a must.
