General Summary


Maintains Human Resources and electronic employee personnel records through data entry and records management techniques.  Receives, reviews, and enters data into applicable Human Resources Information Systems in accordance with established procedures. 

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks
 

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.  These are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified.

  1. Keys alphanumeric information in prescribed formats for computer acceptability with speed and accuracy in accordance with departmental procedures.
  2. Verifies accuracy of data according to established procedures, equipment capability and installation standards in accordance with departmental procedures. Investigates and verifies accuracy of questionable information/data received to ensure validity.
  3. Reviews source documents for deficiencies, such as inaccurate and/or missing numbers, incompleteness, and obtains corrective or follow-up instructions from the supervisor in accordance with departmental procedures.
  4. Investigates causes of discrepancies and correct data to ensure accuracy in accordance with departmental procedures, as required.
  5. Samples specific number of records for accuracy of data entry in a large project or job.  Verifies accurate, acceptable and low in errors entered data.
  6. Produces electronic report to be e-mailed to the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene on a quarterly basis.
  7. Maintains the security of source documents and preserves confidentiality by not divulging employee information.    Protects all documents, ensuring proper handling and security.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.   Bachelors Degree preferred.
  • One (1) year experience in data entry is required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Comprehension of Human Resources processes.
  • Formal computer training or equivalent experience
  • Proficient in relevant computer applications
  • Accurate keyboard skills and proven ability to enter data at the required speed
  • Knowledge of clerical and administrative procedures
