HPC Users & Application Support Engineer

In early 2026, GRNET is expected to host the DAEDALUS supercomputer, which will be ranked among the top 30 fastest supercomputers worldwide.

We are currently looking for a passionate HPC Users & Application support Engineer to expand existing team capability on implementing and providing advanced operational support for users and applications.

As a HPC Users & Application support Engineer you’ll have to build complex software using the appropriate libraries optimized for system hardware, support end users and create / update system documentation. You will be part of a talented team that demonstrates superb technical competency, delivering mission critical services and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance and security. The team members are professionals, with a mindset to innovate, automate, streamline, and provide value to GRNET and to the users of the offered services.

Requirements

Your tasks

●     Build applications optimized for system hardware.

●     Create the appropriate workflow for new applications with no existing recipes.

●     Troubleshoot typical user problems, including but not limited to scripts correctness, debug, profile.

●     Update Web sites with system documentation etc.

Your Profile

●     Experience in supporting and optimizing parallel applications.

●     Knowledge and experience in at least one scientific area of interest: engineering, chemistry, climate, AI, etc.

●     Experience in using at least few popular scientific applications & libraries in parallel environments.

●     Experience in using software development suites like oneAPI, GNU compilers, CUDA Development Kit and possibly other suites (aocc, nvhpc).

●     Experience in the use of ticketing / issue tracking and project management systems (e.g. Atlassian JIRA, Redmine, etc.)

●     Good knowledge of English language.

Will be considered a plus:

●     MSc or PhD in Computer Engineering or Computational Formal Sciences (e.g. engineering, chemistry, climate, AI, etc ).

●     2-year experience in a relevant field (HPC environment).
