JOB PURPOSE
Responsible for gathering and catching live chickens in a timely manner. Must place chickens in cages according to standard operating procedures (SOP).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Duties include but are not limited to the following:
1. Associate must be able to prepare chicken house for catching (bedding) which includes herding chickens into groups to allow for efficient catching and tow-motor access.
2. Associate must be able to direct tow-motor driver to appropriate cage drop-off location.
3. Associate must be able to retrieve chickens according to SOP in a timely manner and place in cages.
4. Associate must be able to remove all equipment such as blocks and screens from chicken house at the conclusion of shift.
5. Associate must be able to perform daily and weekly cleaning duties which includes trash removal and sanitation of transport van.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS & SPECIALIZED SKILL
• Ability to safely and successfully perform any/all essential job functions.
• Ability to meet and maintain all qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• Ability to maintain reasonably regular and punctual attendance.
• Compliance with all personnel policies and practices.
• On the job training, regular training and re-certification required.
• Ability to work alone for extended periods and in teams
• Ability to comprehend simple instructions
• Ability to apply common sense.
• Ability to stand and use hands for 8-11 hours per day
• Ability to multitask and work quickly
• Must be a team player and be willing to work close to other employees.
• Must have good communication skills.
• Good hand and eye coordination required.
• High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
• Experience handling livestock preferred.
