 Overview

Otterbein is a not-for-profit, faith-based ministry that is a national leader and innovator in retirement living communities and long-term care. Otterbein Hospice compliments already strong independent senior services, outpatient capabilities and clinical facilities at Otterbein. 

The Hospice Care Navigator is responsible for developing, maintaining and executing a Marketing and Sales Plan in support of the Otterbein Hospice group. This includes managing all activities associated with the sales process from the initial connection with a referral contact, and/or their families, through closing the sale and ultimately enrollment in hospice care.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the contact and leads database.
  • Establish relationships with key referral contacts (doctors, nurses, social workers, ministers, hospital administrators, senior center liaisons, etc.).
  • Make outbound calls to drive on campus or on location appointments, conduct appointments to complete the process; and represent Otterbein at various public functions.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute a detailed “Marketing and Sales Plan” – inclusive of programs to improve sales, internal and external events and programs, etc. Track and report on the source of referrals and build the sales plan to reflect this distribution and add new referral sources.
  • Educate the public, Otterbein partners, and potential and actual referral sources on end of life, advance directives and hospice eligibility and hospice care. 

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Health Care, Social Work, or Marketing or Business Management preferred, or equivalent experience. 
  • Valid state of Ohio RN or LPN license
  • Licensure/Certification: Ohio Driver’s license
  • 2+ years of sales/referral marketing experience preferably in hospice, social work, or related fields.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and possess excellent communication skills (listening, writing and speaking).
  • Must be able to communicate with older persons (and associated families) who may be ill, disabled and/or emotional.
  • Must be detail oriented, able to prioritize and utilize effective time management skills and be flexible to adjust to impromptu situations on a regular basis.
