POSITION TITLE: Health Care Services Epidemiologist
LOCATION: Remote or Hybrid - Boston MA
POSITION END DATE: June 30, 2025
SALARY: up to $80,000 (plus benefits)

OVERVIEW
The CDC Foundation seeks to hire a Health Care Services Epidemiologist to provide support to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), Office of Health Care Strategy and Planning.
Under general supervision, the Health Care Services Epidemiologist participates in the design, implementation, and maintenance of health care capacity dashboards. This position develops and conducts background research and case studies about complex health care delivery issues.   

QUALIFICATIONS
•Master’s degree in public health or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
•At least two (2) years of relevant work experience performing epidemiologic work or work in a closely related field.
•Experience working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and engaging in strategic partnerships.
•Strong understanding of design and implementation of research and epidemiologic studies. 
•Organizational skills demonstrating high attention to detail and the ability to organize multiple priorities.
•Strong interpersonal skills required for teamwork and interaction with people across CDC and with external partners.
•Understanding of the United States health care delivery system, including but not limited to hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, dialysis centers, community health centers, and health care professionals. 
•Knowledge of SAS statistical software.
•Proficiency in writing comprehensive statistical and analytical reports.
•Excellent written and oral communications. 
•Ability to remain calm under intense stress and in a fast-paced environment. 
•Experience with data visualization and dashboard development (e.g., Tableau).
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
•Strong data management and analysis skills.
•Experience conducting research on health care delivery issues. 
•Experience with Geographic Information Systems (e.g., ArcGIS) is preferred.

RESPONSBILITIES
•Performs formal background research and case studies of complex health issues (i.e., interviewing other states and health providers about programs).
•Provides related consultation to departmental staff and others.
•Participates in designing, implementing, and maintaining health care capacity dashboards.
•Provides training, technical assistance, and consultative services regarding health care access and utilization. 
•Serves as a point of contact for various personnel regarding moderately complex epidemiologic issues.
•Writes various epidemiologic reports.
•Performs various duties in support of office operations.
•Prepares technical and non-technical summaries of work, scientific reports and manuscripts.
•Models and estimates health care resources needed to meet the needs of communities.
•Supports the development of a strategic plan for engaging community health centers as a critical partner in health care delivery.
•Collaborates with Bureau of Health Professions Licensure Epidemiologists to create work professions series dashboards and revise data collection tools for licensed or certified professionals. 
•Other duties as assigned.

This role is involved in a dynamic public health program. As such, roles and responsibilities are subject to change as situations evolve. Roles and responsibilities listed above may be expanded upon or updated to match priorities and needs, once written approval is received by both the CDC Foundation and Massachusetts Department of Public Health in order to best support the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in their public health programing.
This position is currently a remote or hybrid position. CDC Foundation retains the right to make adjustments to this as required.
