This is an excellent opportunity for a Health Care Receptionist (40 hours/week). As a valuable member of our team, all Health Care Receptionists are provided paid training to learn how to deliver clinical care and how to complete medical administrative tasks.

PPWI’s compensation philosophy is rooted in equity. Starting offers are determined by both the candidate’s applicable experience and internal equity. The Health Care Receptionist pay starts from $18.00 per hour.

Additional $1.50 per hour for bilingual (English/Spanish)


PURPOSE OF POSITION:  

The Health Care Receptionist is responsible for performing administrative and clerical duties to support clinical operations and provide the highest quality of customer service for patients. This includes greeting and registering patients, answering the phone, scheduling appointments, and data entry  including insurance enrollment and verification. The Health Care Receptionist also direct patients, visitors, and callers to appropriate parties and answers basic questions 
 
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

· Demonstrates organization and time management skills to manage a variety of tasks effectively. 
· Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, staff and other external parties in a courteous and friendly manner in person and over the phone. 
· Experience in electronic health records (EHR), electronic practice management (EPM) system, Office 365, and Microsoft Office Products preferred. 
· Accuracy and attention to detail are essential. 
· Effective written and verbal communication skills. 
· Ability to read and implement written and verbal instructions.   
· Ability to work independently and as a team member.   
· Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.   
· Some positions require bilingual English/Spanish skills. 
· CPR certifiable. 
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

1. High school diploma or equivalent. 
2. Experience in healthcare setting preferred. 
3. Reproductive healthcare experience is desired. 
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  

The position is predominantly sedentary, requiring the ability to sit, bend, stand and walk.  May require occasional stooping, reaching, stair-climbing and repetitive motions of the hands and wrist related to writing and typing at an electronic keyboard.  Rarely requires kneeling, pushing/pulling and repetitive motions of the feet. 
 
Physical demands of the position necessitate hearing, talking, handling, and grasping regularly.  May require lifting up to 30 pounds. Specific vision conditions include close vision reading. Requires the ability to operate a computer, telephone, fax, copy machine and adding machine or calculator.   
 
WORKING CONDITIONS: 

The position is generally performed in a medical office environment but involves frequent interruptions.  The noise level is usually moderate.  The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.  Reasonable accommodations, however, may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform said essential functions.  
 
Evening and/or weekend hours may be necessary. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Welcome patients, vendors, and other visitors to the health center in person or by phone. 
  • Answer multiple phone lines, schedule appointments, and refer calls to appropriate staff.   
  • Verify and input patient demographic information into the Electronic Practice Management system.
  • Scan necessary patient information into the EHR system. 
  • Verify and update financial records, enroll patients in third party insurance sources and verify insurance information.  
  • Collect patient fees, track daily finances, and post patient payments and balance transaction reports. 
  • Prepare the center for opening and secure for closing as needed. 
  • Remain current on agency policies and procedures, referral processes and all Planned Parenthood programs. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Center Manager.
