The Health and Safety Manager supports FER-PAL units’ activities in Canada and the USA, to help achieve prevention and compliance objectives. This position reports to the Vice Presidents of FER-PAL Canada, and FER-PAL USA. You will be required to travel to the various branch offices in North America.
Role and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a prevention and regulatory compliance strategy, in addition to keeping the H&S program up to date and ensuring its effective management.
- Maintain knowledge of H&S legislation, best practices, trends, anticipate future needs and requirements and ensure a leadership for implementation of improvements.
- Champion and communicate with the H&S program company wide and in all locations.
- Ensure the Incident Investigation process is followed and collaborate with the business leaders for the execution of the corrective and preventive action plans.
- Analyze trends in EHS performance, prepare KPI’s and reports and make recommendations to management team.
- Ensure the risk management process is followed and collaborate with the business leaders to implement risk control measures.
- Foster H&S culture by actively engaging with employees, addressing their concerns, and promoting a mindset where safety is a shared responsibility.
- Plan and communicate regular weekly reporting and all internal H&S communications.
- Lead all Joint Health & Safety Committee activities in Canada and the USA.
- Lead and manage all worker compensation programs in all jurisdictions including claim submissions and return to work programs.
- Develop and maintain a training strategy covering H&S program requirements, risk prevention and legal requirements Maintain training matrix ensuring certifications are maintained.
- Maintain HSMS and COR for Ontario, Alberta and Saskatchewan, and Newfoundland.
- Lead and ensure successful audits for COR Ontario, Alberta and Saskatchewan, and Newfoundland.
- Ensure all customer H&S requirements are met as required including various municipality requirements, contractor licenses and security clearances, site specific safety documentation.
- Liaise with the Ministry of Labour. Ensure successful completion of all Ministry of Labour requirements as an Industrial Establishment and including all construction sites.
