About the Organization:
World Resources Institute (WRI) India, an independent charity legally registered as the India Resources Trust, provides objective information and practical proposals to foster environmentally sound and socially equitable development. WRI India’s mission is to move human society to live in ways that protect Earth’s environment and its capacity to provide for the needs and aspirations of current and future generations. Through research, analysis, and recommendations, WRI India puts ideas into action to build transformative solutions to protect the earth, promote livelihoods, and enhance human well-being. We are inspired by and associated with WRI, a research organization. Currently over 300 researchers are working with WRI India in our offices at Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru.
About the Program
WRI, has deep experience in the energy sector and on climate change across several topic areas and is widely recognized as a leader on energy and climate issues. In India, we have a multi-pronged energy strategy that looks strategically at directing our tools, research, expertise, and partnerships to support India’s clean energy transition across varied economic activities like extraction, production, distribution, consumption and waste management; in ensuring universal access to reliable, affordable and sustainable electricity and minimizing energy losses and thereby contributing to energy planning and policy analysis.
The objective of WRI India energy program is to inform and guide India’s clean energy transition. Through strong research, ground-level implementation experience, partnerships with key stakeholders and communicating our work, we seek to achieve impact at scale.
How your day will unfold:
Program Strategy and Development (15%)
· Collaborate with program leadership to develop and refresh the program’s strategy, aligning with organizational goals and country priorities.
· Lead strategic planning, ensuring delivery of the program’s vision and goals.
· Identify opportunities to enhance operational effectiveness and oversee the implementation of these improvements.
· Monitor relevant international and national policy landscapes, identifying strategic opportunities for the program.
· Help develop new program areas by creating applicable plans, identifying resource needs, and encouraging collaboration with other WRI India programs, peer organizations, country offices and external projects.
· Design and facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions on strategy development for project teams.
· Support donor engagement, including relationship building, organizing meetings, and preparing materials to enhance donor relations.
Operational Management and Program Execution (40%)
· Oversee daily operations of the India Energy Program, ensuring that projects are accomplished within scope.
· Manage cross-functional teams, ensuring seamless collaboration and communication.
· Develop and implement operational plans and procedures that enhance program delivery.
· Lead the execution of high-priority projects, from launch to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, scope, and quality standards.
· Serve as contact for program activities, facilitating strategic communication and coordination across departments and with external partners.
Financial Oversight and Resource Management (15%)
· Oversee the management of the program’s budget with program leadership and the operations team, ensuring financial sustainability and accountability.
· Oversee financial planning, reporting, and analysis, working with the finance team to ensure accurate forecasting and budget management.
· Support fundraising by providing insights on operational needs and ensuring efficient resource use.
· Improve the allocation of human, financial, and material resources to maximize program impact, ensuring the delivery of goods and services. Support program leadership on areas such as staff equity, performance management, succession plans, internal processes, etc.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting (20%)
· Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of program data to inform decision-making and track program impact.
· Prepare regular reports on program performance, challenges, and opportunities for senior leadership and partners.
· Ensure compliance with reporting requirements for donors and other partners by coordinating with relevant program team members.
Risk Management and Compliance (10%)
· Support in identifying and mitigating operational risks, ensuring program activities follow safety, regulatory, and ethical standards.
· Help develop and implement risk management strategies to protect the program’s assets and reputation.
Qualifications and requirements we seek:
· Master’s degree in business administration, public policy, energy management, or a related field.
· Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in strategic planning, operations management, and project leadership within the energy or sustainability sectors.
· Proven ability to manage complex programs, cross-functional teams, and large-scale initiatives.
· Experience in budget management.
· Excellent communication, partner management, and donor engagement skills.
· Understanding of energy policy and sustainability trends, both globally and in India.
· Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.

Salary & Benefits: INR 3000000-3400000 CTC Per Annum
Salary shall be commensurate with experience and skills. WRI offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package.
Duration: 2 year as term hire (extendable based on performance and project requirements)
