The YouVersion Team Leader of User Experience(UX) is responsible for leading and elevating the UX, product design, and user research strategy across our two core product lanes: YouVersion Family of Apps(including the Bible App, Bible App Lite, Bible App for Kids, and Bible Loop) and Partners and Platform. This leader oversees product designers, product design directors, and UXR teams and ensures user-centric experiences from concept to launch. The Team Leader of UX will lead teams, promote design excellence, and embed user advocacy throughout the product lifecycle, collaborating with engineering, product management, and other teams to align solutions with the product roadmap using data, user feedback, and stakeholder input. Additionally, this role will set and track metrics to measure the impact of design and research efforts, driving the development of digital products that support YouVersion’s mission to engage users with God’s Word. What You'll Do
- Foster and Lead a Vision-Driven User Experience Strategy.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive UX strategy that aligns with YouVersion’s mission. and ministry objectives, delivering impactful experiences across the full range of products and partner platforms.
- Drive the vision and execution of user-centric product design across all YouVersion apps, including the Bible App, Bible App Lite, Bible App for Kids, and our partners and platform teams, ensuring a consistent and engaging user experience.
- Establish and maintain robust design systems and guidelines to ensure consistency, scalability, and quality across the YouVersion ecosystem.
- Oversee and lead a diverse team of product designers, product design directors, and user experience researchers(UXR), fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, creativity, and design excellence.
- Champion the importance of user research, leading the UXR team to conduct impactful studies that inform product design and enhance user engagement.
- Promote a culture of innovation through ideation, collaboration, and technology.
- Partner closely with product management, engineering, marketing, content, and other key stakeholders to align product design strategies with overall product development efforts and ensure seamless implementation.
- Build and refine design and research processes, leveraging the latest tools and methodologies to drive efficient and effective team output.
- Define and track key metrics to measure the success of user experience and design initiatives, utilizing data to inform future strategies.
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best UX and product design practices, sharing insights with the team and contributing to YouVersion’s position as a leader in Bible engagement.
Skills Needed to Succeed

- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to clearly explain complicated processes and foster partnerships.
- Effective at process and organizational management to coordinate, structure, and provide vision to projects.
- Strong leadership skills and understanding of developing and guiding others.
- Ability to develop and drive a cohesive design strategy that aligns with product and company goals.
- Strong knowledge of design tools(e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite) and an understanding of front-end development practice.
- Passionate about YouVersion’s mission to engage users with the Bible, with an understanding of designing products that support spiritual growth and community.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 10 years in UX/UI design and leadership roles with significant experience leading product design teams and managing complex, multi-product ecosystems.
- Proven experience overseeing product design and UXR Teams, inspiring creative excellence, and nurturing team growth and development.
- A track record of integrating user research into the design process to inform product development and enhance user satisfaction.
