Head of Technology Consulting

London, United Kingdom
Full-Time

The Head of Technology Consulting is an integral leadership team role for the Consulting Business Unit, helping our clients accelerate their digital journey and helping AND Digital grow the AND Consulting business unit.

The Consulting operating model is split into 6 interdependent practices - Strategy & Transformation, Product, Technology, People, Delivery, and Data & Insight. Each practice lead is accountable for developing, maintaining and enhancing a compelling Point of View, creating a library of artefacts, templates and case studies relevant to the practice and keeping a full and comprehensive list of BIO’s, aligned to each practice.

The Practice Lead for Technology will be experienced in leading large and complex technology transformations and will have a breadth of understanding of many aspects of digital delivery within large enterprises - product, insight, data, and people change, underpinned by deep technology expertise.

In addition to building, running and maintaining the technology practice, the Practice Lead will also be involved in client delivery (up to 60%), business development, research & development, and external networking and speaking.

What you will be doing

  • Build, run and maintain the Consulting practice for Technology
  • Actively participate in key consulting governance activities such as: scheduling, SLT meetings, BU Board meetings etc
  • Grow the Technology Advisory as part of the AND Consulting team - artefacts, POV, templates, case studies, AND Chats etc
  • Lead on business development activities for Consulting Technology opportunities
  • Lead on research & development for the practice - trends, innovations and points of view that makes this technology practice stand out from the crowd
  • Work across practices (Product, People, Delivery and Insight) as demand dictates
  • A vital member of the Consulting leadership team, supporting the scaling and delivery of the consulting plan, beyond the technology practice
  • For client work:
    • Provide technology leadership, working closely with client stakeholders - CTO, CDO, CMO, CIO and Head of Engineering roles to developers and BA’s
    • Advise and suggest technology strategies to align with business vision - web, mobile, API, frameworks, cloud, platforms
    • Review, plan, lead and execute activities required to improve ways of working and effectiveness of technology delivery and governance for our clients
    • Prepare and deliver technology reviews and assessments of current technology solutions, roadmaps and architecture
    • Facilitate and deliver a software selection process appropriate for the client - combining bespoke and commercial software solutions
    • Design and shape reference architecture with an emphasis on digital
    • Propose architecture to work alongside legacy and heritage applications to enable rapid deployment of customer benefiting functionality
    • Design API integration strategies - enabling effective use of existing client technologies
    • Recommend and select technology platforms and frameworks, taking into account current architecture and client investments
    • Introduce new and emerging technology initiatives leading the way in technology innovation for clients
    • Work alongside Digital Transformation Managers to pull together the discovery, activation and shaping of all technology aspects of the engagement
    • Apply a commercial mindset throughout an engagement - taking a total cost of ownership view on your proposed technology recommendations
    • Work closely with the AND Clubs BU to ensure smooth onboarding and transition to a ‘build service’ as follow-on from Consulting engagements
    • Get hands on with the work, beyond leading and directing - producing key artefacts, technology roadmaps, onsite reviews, blueprints, strategy documents, solution selection templates, facilitation and delivery of technology workshops
    • Deliver the right technology outcome, not just the agreed outputs - seeing the bigger picture in terms of the value the client is actually looking for

Must-haves

  • You are a highly credible technologist, excellent communicator, with strong client and stakeholder management and consulting skills
  • You enjoy leading, driving and ultimately landing the technology for your client amidst a complex set of risks or issues
  • Breadth of consulting and professional services experience, delivering technology enabled engagements across a range of clients and organisations
  • Focused technology specialism - you will have spent the majority of your career in a technology role - having been either an engineer, an architect, a technology focussed business analyst or have come through a technology consulting role
  • Good knowledge of digital delivery - particularly through Product, Technology and People change, backed with your own insights and POVs in technology
  • Ability to persuade and influence client stakeholders with recommended technology direction
  • Comfortable moving between various client assignments throughout your career within the AND Consulting team
  • Ability to spot and action opportunities for AND Digital either for yourself, AND Consulting or AND as a whole

Joining AND

From the work we deliver, to the way we serve and support our people, we work hard to ensure that there’s nowhere quite like AND. But joining a company is a two-way street: the fit has to work on both sides. So before you apply, here’s three key things to understand about us:

  • We’re built for people - like, real humans. Not ‘resources’ or ‘staff’. That means happiness and wellbeing really do matter to us, and we hate unnecessary hierarchy and bureaucracy.
  • There’s no well-trodden path ahead: AND is growing fast and forging a new trail. That’s exciting, and gives us all the autonomy and opportunity we love - but bear in mind it also demands focus, patience and resilience. There is a brilliant opportunity to shape the way that consulting develops and is perceived across wider AND.
  • Diversity is a priority. After all, to build great products that a wide variety of different people love to use, we need a wide variety of people to help us build them. So diversity is more than a policy or a word: it’s business critical for us.
