Head of South Korea

Reporting to Head of GLG APAC, the Head of South Korea will be responsible for leading GLG's commercial and operational activities across the South Korea market. This role will be responsible for business strategy development, team leadership, internal and external stakeholder engagement and operational execution. This individual will be the face of GLG in South Korea and a critical member of the Asia Pacific Leadership Team.

This role calls for a highly commercial and self-motivated individual who brings a strong track record in leading and developing high performing sales teams, managing client relationships across a range of organisational levels whilst delivering on sales targets. Also, given the strong growth trajectory and scale of GLG in South Korea, the ideal candidate will also bring a proven ability to manage operations of increased complexity and provide leadership and direction to a young dynamic team.

The role will be based at GLG's South Korea headquarters in Seoul and will be responsible for managing a large team of employees.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • As leader for the business, he/she will be instrumental in driving revenue growth across new business and renewal outcomes as well as representing GLG at all levels of business in South Korea. This will be achieved through a combination of ensuring service excellence, process improvement, and talent identification and
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure excellent service across the product suite. This includes fostering effective collaboration between the company’s product, Sales, Client Solutions and Recruiting teams.
  • Implement best-practice management approaches that drive operational agility and a performance culture resulting in outsized financial and non-financial performance for the company.
  • Establish current and long-term business objectives to ensure continued growth in core business segments and further growth and expansion into new and strategic segments.
  • Mentor and lead the existing team and build talent where needed. Develop a strong team focused on maximising growth, market share gains, and profitability.

This individual will be skilled in navigating the complexities of a global organisation and will know how to build deep relationships, both internally and externally to GLG.

As the face of GLG in South Korea, this individual will be a well-respected leader with unquestionable integrity and credibility across the South Korea market. Coupled with this, the successful candidate will bring the energy, determination and team spirit that is required to continue the GLG growth story.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE

Relevant general management experience

  • A true general manager and leader, with P&L responsibility. Experience running a B2B, client-focused business is desirable.

Commercial leadership

  • A proven sales or business development track record; demonstrated ability in developing strong client relationships and/or possesses a strong client network; aggressive in driving commercial growth.

Leading and developing teams

  • Ability to attract, motivate and develop high-performing teams of 50-60 people.

Knowledge and network

  • An understanding of working with clients in the investment banking, private equity, hedge fund or professional services segments is desirable but not essential.

Education

  • An undergraduate degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
