Head of Settlement Operations

ABOUT THE ROLE

You own the design and performance of client settlement flows: payment processing, funds allocation, transaction reconciliation. You are part of Aspire’s leadership team & report to the COO. You work closely with Product, Finance, Compliance, Network teams, as well as external partners & regulators to achieve your goals.

  • Ensure settlements are done correctly throughout our payment infrastructure
    • Ensure settlements are processed & funds are safeguarded
    • Process funds manually when not automated & work closely with Product to automate settlements
    • Ensure proper reconciliation of client balances and client transactions on all our accounts, in multiple currencies, and for all Aspire licensed entities
    • Investigate, document and escalate non-reconciled transactions and ledger discrepancies, as well as suggest and align on remediative and preventive measures
  • Own & manage ledger & safeguarding risk
    • Design and maintain ledger and safeguarding policies and processes
    • Monitor and test the effectivity and resilience of risk management rules, processes, policies, programs, and continuously improve them
    • Build and manage operations and risk management programs to mitigate ledger and safeguarding risks
    • Chair the Ledger Risk Committee
  • Design & launch new payment infrastructure
    • Design payment flows for existing and new products, and implement them together with Product & other teams involved
    • Drive improvements in payment infrastructure performance
  • Manage & administrate the ledger reconciliation software
  • Lead a team of 10+ people and growing; Develop & coach the team
  • Work closely with relevant stakeholders - Finance, Product, Product Operations, Compliance - to rally everyone around creating strong and effective practices to manage client funds, to resolve issues, to design client Aspire’s product and tech

 

YOUR PROFILE

  • You have done it before - 10+ years experience in client payments / treasury / settlements; experience in a startup environment
  • You can build and execute on a vision - You come up with a vision & strategy for your team, build and action plan based on this and execute it, effectively & without supervision, rallying other leaders to your cause
  • You make operations run like clockwork - Highly analytical and structured, can communicate effectively to people of all levels
  • You have strong communication & project management skills - You are used to communicating with senior executives, as well as with on-the-ground officers. Your communication is clear and concise. You know how to project manage large projects with a lot of dependencies
  • You are customer-obsessed - Putting yourself in the shoes of the customer comes naturally to you. The customer comes first.
