Head of Quantum Applications

The Role

OQC are looking to appoint a new Head of Quantum Applications to innovate and implement the technical developments for Quantum Applications for OQC as well as  build and manage the team that delivers this. 

In this mixed technical and management role, you will need to understand domain problems, and how the business intends to benefit from them. Your team will primarily be responsible for developing the deliverable algorithms specific to each use case. You will architect and implement solutions as well as manage the total deliverables of the work directly with partners as well as internal teams across the company. 

Person Specification

• Background in a Quantum related subject (skills in other Physics related fields may also be relevant)
• Demonstrable experience of translating complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences
• Experience working in a Scientific computing setting handling complex simulations and/or large datasets

• Development of Machine Learning algorithms
• Building and leading teams
• Project management using agile methodology
• Research and Development experience
• Record of supporting the growth and development of direct reports and colleagues
• Experience presenting work to external audiences e.g. at conferences or client meetings

Desirable experience:

• Quantum Machine Learning would be an advantage
• Experience in a commercial setting is an advantage
