Role Purpose
- To lead the AMEA & JANZ PPM & VC marketing & technical service team to deliver profitable growth in both established and emerging markets.
- Drive and coordinate commercial portfolio, brand and offer strategies for the AMEA & JANZ PPM business with input from countries and global marketing and ensure that the portfolio required to drive the business is put in place (products, services and offers). Give R&D direction for new product/crop solution developments based on Business case.
- Develop and implement the annual Regional Marketing Plan (campaign and brand) and NPI programme for the AMEA & JANZ PPM & VC portfolio ensuring coherent positioning, pricing and in-market activities.
- Work closely with, and provide direction and support where necessary, to SPS Country Managers, in-country Syngenta staff (Marketing Communications, Technical, Development, Supply Chain) and external consultants working on Syngenta’s behalf.
- Develop a deep understanding of the PPM & VC markets, operating environment and competitors within AMEA & JANZ to enable the development of effective strategies, and lobbying plans along with the development of compelling offers which drive market share growth.
- Coordinate regional pricing strategy set the pricing corridor and GP targets.
- Provide Leadership as a member of the SPS AMEA & JANZ LT
Accountabilities
- Develop and gain approval for the 5 year rolling plan for the AMEA & JANZ PPM & VC business which is consistent with global strategy and creates compelling product and service offers based on a deep understanding of customer needs, decision drivers and competitor activity.
- Develop portfolio and brand strategies and registration plans for AMEA & JANZ and develop compelling product launch and integration plans which create enthusiasm and deliver rapid sales growth across the region.
- Develop compelling NPI launch and campaign plans which engage customers and drive growth
- Support the Commercial team to develop regional GTM models which improve the competitive position for Syngenta. Work with countries to support the implementation of new or enhance existing models to drive value for Syngenta.
- Propose and deliver the regional PPM budget and deliver the business (sales, gross Margin) in line with the key performance indicators agreed with the Head AMEA & JANZ Professional Solutions
- Define pricing corridor for the portfolio and monitor key-competitors price movement and take the necessary measures in junction with the key country business managers to deliver the budget

- Monitor and develop new emerging market segment by assessing 3rd party products opportunities to fill portfolio gaps.
- Effectively engage with global, regional and country organisations to create good understanding of the PPM & VC business.
- Work with key influencers and Syngenta country teams to ensure consistency of positioning and messages, and establish and build both the Syngenta and product brands.
- Utilise formal and informal market research techniques to evaluate and measure market opportunities and provide a solid basis on which to introduce brands, services and portfolio offers.
- Share best practice amongst the marketing group and collaborate to establish the WOW for AMEA & JANZ SPS
Knowledge, experience & capabilities
Critical knowledge
- Broad knowledge of sales, marketing and development processes.
- Detailed brand / portfolio management knowledge.
- Deep understanding of PPM & VC markets and products.
- Marketing campaign planning and budget management incorporating the use of digital marketing tools along with good financial knowledge and understanding of key value drivers.
- Market Research techniques and methods
- Educated to degree level.
- Broad knowledge in using Microsoft Office Suite, AI tools such as ChatGPT, Canvas
Critical experience
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience within the industry or related industry with significant experience in marketing and sales.
- Demonstrable success in managing a portfolio and delivering successful launches.
- Demonstrable success of engaging and obtaining buy-in from sales and development teams to create compelling campaigns with edge. Create commitment and ownership by the key stakeholders for the regional marketing plan
- Successful working in cross-functional and multi-cultural teams with experience of change management.
- Demonstrable experience and understanding of “Go to Market” model development.
- Demonstrable experience at regional/global position
