Head of Product & Design

Air is looking for a visionary Head of Product & Design to lead our product strategy, design vision, and cross-functional execution as we enter our next phase of growth. This is a rare opportunity to own and shape the evolution of a system of record—one purpose-built for the future of creative work. We’re looking for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, brings experience from the world’s best product-led companies, and is obsessed with how AI can be leveraged to dramatically increase the impact of creative teams.

This is a highly strategic role with direct responsibility for our product direction, user experience, and team leadership. You’ll partner closely with our CEO, CTO and broader leadership team to scale our product while maintaining the design excellence and clarity that have set Air apart.

What You'll Do:

Vision & Strategy

  • Set and drive the long-term product and design vision that aligns with our mission and business goals.
  • Champion an AI-centric approach across the platform, imagining and delivering features that unlock creativity and efficiency for our users.
  • Develop a deep understanding of our market, customers, and competitive landscape to inform strategic product bets.
  • Balance the pace of innovation with the demands of building a stable, scalable system of record.

Product & Design Leadership

  • Lead and mentor a team of product managers and designers, fostering a culture of creativity, ownership, and high performance.
  • Build a seamless partnership between product, design, and engineering to execute with speed and excellence.
  • Uphold a high bar for product quality, design precision, and user-centric thinking across everything we ship.
  • Own roadmap prioritization across teams, ensuring initiatives are aligned to company objectives and user needs.

Execution & Impact

  • Guide teams through the entire product lifecycle—from discovery and strategy to design, build, launch, and iteration.
  • Operate with a systems mindset, creating processes and frameworks that enable the team to scale efficiently.
  • Define and track success metrics, using data and insights to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure our product narrative is compelling, cohesive, and resonates with both internal stakeholders and the market.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience: 10+ years in product and/or design leadership roles at world-class, product-led companies; ideally with experience scaling SaaS platforms or systems of record.
  • AI-First Thinking: Deeply curious about AI and its practical applications; excited to build product experiences that put AI at the center of creative workflows.
  • Strategic & Hands-On: Able to toggle between long-term vision and in-the-weeds execution. You’ve shipped complex products at scale and know what it takes.
  • Design Sensibility: Strong taste and intuition for what makes a great user experience. You're comfortable operating in the space where product and design meet.
  • Systems Builder: Experienced in developing product orgs, establishing rituals, and processes that scale with the business.
  • Customer Empathy: Naturally customer-obsessed, with a proven ability to synthesize feedback into strategic decisions.
  • Influence & Communication: A compelling communicator and cross-functional leader who inspires teams and aligns stakeholders.

  • Competitive Compensation: The compensation range for this role is USD $200,000 - $280,000.
  • Location: This role is based in our New York City office. We follow a hybrid work model with 3 in-office days Tuesday through Thursday.
