We are going through rapid growth in our global payroll team, and in 2023 we launched our new Payroll Hub in Budapest. Now we are looking for a Head of Payroll Operations with end-to-end understanding of payroll processes and people management experience from both in-house and outsourced payrolls to lead our payroll operations team on the next stage of our exciting journey.

With this attitude, we have over the last few years in the People team launched platforms like Workday and Quinyx, while simultaneously transforming our Payroll delivery with a move to a new payroll partner, ADP. Overall, we want to do things in a modern way and would love to find a person who wants to build things for the future, utilizing the latest technology advancement to achieve this.

What you’ll be doing
- Team leadership: Above all, lead our payroll operations team of approx 20 people who are responsible for our payroll delivery for over 25 countries globally, and demonstrate thought-leadership for running world-class payroll operations in a global and very fast scaling environment.
- Team development: Develop our Payroll Hub in Budapest (where the majority of our payroll operations team is based) and work with the Head of Global Payroll on our service delivery model ensuring that we maintain sufficient capacity and capability for all payroll processes, and minimizing “single point of failure” risks. Also ensuring our team and processes are “fit for purpose” in our ever-scaling and growing environment.
- Strategic vendor management: Partner with our outsourced payroll vendors (mainly ADP) to ensure that our global teammates are paid accurately and on time every pay cycle.
- Obsess about employee experience: Deliver a world class employee payroll experience while resolving any issues that might arise if things go wrong, with prompt corrective actions and root cause analysis as we can make mistakes, but we don’t like to repeat them.
- Be an active member in our Payroll Leadership Team: Collaborate with other Payroll Leadership Team members to build a modern, end-to-end and scalable payroll process across HR data, payroll data and Finance data, and develop global payroll key performance indicators, and service level agreement metrics to measure process health.
- Show mastery in modern systems and data management: Ensure payroll data integrity across our integrated HR and payroll systems, and lead in adoption of latest technology solutions that drive efficiency and reduce risk.
- Have a focus on continuous improvement: Build payroll policies, practices and controls that scale for the long-term, and monitor compliance of country regulations to meet payroll and tax obligations. Overall, operate with a mindset of continuous performance improvement to streamline and automate payroll processes as opportunities arise, building with vision for the future.
- Own query management for Payroll: Designing a world class payroll query and request management offering for our employees and Team Leads.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate and manage relationships with internal stakeholders like HR, IT and Finance.

- Global Payroll Leader: Demonstrates an extensive understanding and experience in payroll processes, systems and international operations.
- Passion for Payroll Technology: Exhibits a strong interest and enthusiasm for advancements in payroll technology and processes.
- Expertise in Payroll Process Design: Has substantial hands-on experience in the design and implementation of payroll processes.
- Global Payroll Systems Knowledge: Previous involvement with global payroll systems, notably Workday or equivalent enterprise HR platforms are highly desirable.
- Effective Communication Skills: Must possess outstanding communication abilities, with a high level of proficiency in English.
- Proactive Problem-Solving: Demonstrates a proactive approach to ownership and problem resolution.
- Excel Proficiency: Shows advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Team Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively within a team environment, including adeptness at remote collaboration using digital tools such as Slack and Zoom.
