1. General Management and Strategy
▪ manage and coordinate all IT activities for the plant
▪ define and ensure plant IT strategy in accordance to the group IT and BA IT
▪ translate plant IT strategy into action plans and ensure implementation
▪ contribute to strategic and operative planning of the plant/operations unit (e.g. with respect to investments, capacity and headcount planning)
▪ ensure the achievement of IT targets according to internal and external customer expectations
▪ initiate and implement continuous improvement activities by applying CBS methods and training measures
▪ initiate and control investments for IT equipment (e.g. servers, network infrastructure, software, etc.)
▪ interface to segment, BU or BA functions in order to gather local IT requirements and demands and other feedback
▪ participate in and/or steer global or local IT related and cross-functional projects
▪ conduct employee dialogues, personnel development and coaching
2. Financial Management
▪ prepare, review and manage the budget and forecast of IT cost centers
▪ ensure timely submission of financial data to controlling
▪ implement and conduct activities according to the budget established
▪ ensure that the financial goals are met
3. Consulting and Project Management
▪ steer, plan, manage and execute projects and project tasks using IT project management guidelines to the topics IT security, development, implementation and replacement of IT infrastructure and standards (e.g. processes, tools, KPIs)
▪ ensure advising of user departments/users in conjunction with the replacement of existing IT systems, with the introduction of new applications and in questions touching process organization and information technology
▪ participate in projects by working with the project teams and consult supported business to above topics
▪ ensure direction and training to ensure best utilization of standard IT applications
▪ coordinate with external and internal IT suppliers (e.g. SLA contract monitoring, purchasing, etc.) operating local plant IT infrastructure according to standards to ensure optimal local service provisioning
4. IT Operations and Support
▪ ensure operation, support and maintenance of plant IT infrastructure (software, clients and servers, IT service desk, desktop, server and mail service management, network and other physical equipment as e.g. printers, scanners, etc.) according to standards
▪ ensure operation of local plant data centers (facility management, fire protection, security control, backup, etc.) and implement a contingency plan
▪ support manufacturing engineering in operating and maintaining Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) according to standards
▪ ensure analysis of IT systems and infrastructure issues and provide solutions through collaboration with regional and BA IT organizations
▪ examine external provider and control them in terms of contractually agreed-upon service level/performance standards
▪ ensure IT/data protection and security setup and maintenance of al IT devices (software and hardware) according to standards
▪ coordinate with regional and BA IT as well as IT service providers (e.g. demand management, requirement management, implementation of standards, incident and change coordination, training, etc.)
▪ coordinate between plant operations and IT for system maintenance
▪ coordinate with various plant departments and local key users for operational and project support
▪ represent IT in plant operations reviews on a regular basis
5. Risk and Quality Management
▪ support development and execution steps to mitigate risks
▪ submit and publish risk related reports
▪ ensure IT documentation is up to date and meet quality standards
▪ manage IT disaster recovery processes and procedures
6. Training and Coaching
▪ ensure the availability of qualified employees for the IT function
▪ initiate and control the continuous qualification of IT employees
7. Monitoring and Reporting
▪ ensure IT (KPI) monitoring and reporting (e.g. incidents, service level, costs, etc.) in cooperation with plant management and controlling
▪ initiate and control measures to improve IT performance
8. Standardization
▪ ensure local implementation of group/BA IT standards and guidelines
▪ provide feedback and input for further development of standards regarding IT processes and IT (e.g. user support, access management, etc.) to segment, BU or BA functions
