Position Overview
The Director, Human Resources serves as the head of the HR Department, providing comprehensive leadership and oversight of all HR operations
This role drives strategic initiatives and ensures the department’s programs and functions align with corporate goals and objectives. The Director is responsible for developing, evaluating, and implementing company policies and procedures, positioning HR as a strategic partner in the organization’s success.
The Director will collaborate closely with various departments, regions, and business units to achieve both business and people-related objectives. This includes ensuring best practices across areas such as Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, Employee Development, HR Governance & Compliance, Health & Safety, and Employee Relations. Additionally, the Director will develop, lead, and execute initiatives that align with the company's values, fostering consistency, cohesion, and alignment across the organization.
The successful candidate will be a demonstrated thought leader with strong leadership capabilities, demonstrating experience overseeing multiple facilities across Canada and the U.S. within a fast-paced manufacturing or similar environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation, monitoring, evaluation and development of the company's HR strategies and procedures.
- Promote continuous corporate improvement, including personal and organizational goals to develop leadership capacity.
- Manage and develop HR staff; determine workload; delegate assignments; monitor and evaluate employee performance; etc.
- Facilitate workgroups, teams, and meetings within a positive environment.
- Provide direction to all levels of management & employees for HR related issues.
- Ensure that all relevant policies, procedures, practices, processes, and systems meet corporate and comply with applicable legislation.
- Oversee the hiring, orientation, performance management, employee engagement, and possible terminations of all employees.
- Direct talent acquisition practices and procedures
- Manage and support Succession Planning activities.
- Oversee development and coordination of Compensation strategies.
- Guide the development & maintenance of Health & Safety Strategies
- Direct training & development activities to ensure workforce flexibility and skills improvement.
- Monitor HR-related documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and relevance to business processes.
- Represent the organization in lawsuits, grievances, and complaints.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Canadian & US federal/state/provincial/municipal laws, regulations, rules, standards, and guidelines.
- Support HR related M&A initiatives and requirements.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Requirements
What we are looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in business, HR, or related discipline
- Certified Human Resources Professional designation
- Minimum 10+ years of progressive HR experience in a multi-disciplined environment
- Minimum of 5 years senior leadership experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or similar environment as a senior HR professional
- Proven experience managing both labor and corporate workforces across multiple facilities in Canada and the U.S. Experience in Canada only, across multiple provinces, including Quebec will also be considered.
- Bilingual in French/English is preferred, however, not essential.
- Experience with applicable laws in various jurisdictions within Canada and US.
- Strong knowledge of current employment law with a strong commitment to diversity management
- Proven track record of success in staff management, employee relations, policy development, recruitment and training.
- Ability to identify developmental needs of employees and to provide coaching, mentoring, and other help.
- Effective communication and competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the organization.

- Knowledge of principles, theories, and techniques related to employee relations, personnel management, and recruitment.
- Experience with evaluating and implementing HRIS systems.
- Proficiency with MS Office programs
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule as needed.
- Must be willing to travel. Valid passport required for travel to US as needed
