The Role

As the Head of Engineering for Overjet’s Practice Organization, reporting directly to the CTO, you will lead a high-performing, distributed engineering organization of 20+ engineers (managers & IC’s), who are responsible for building Overjet’s core AI-driven x-ray diagnostic platform that dentists and their patients love! In addition, you will oversee the execution of new product initiatives that are critical to Overjet’s long-term business strategy and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Build and scale high-performing engineering teams across global locations, driving key initiatives that contribute to Overjet’s growth.
  • Lead your teams to execute product roadmaps, developing both early-stage and mature products that position Overjet as a leader in dental AI.
  • Foster a collaborative, innovative engineering culture focused on continuous learning, technical ownership, and timely delivery of high-quality software.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and architects to align goals and deliver solutions that meet business needs and improve patient outcomes.
  • Implement engineering best practices and develop technical strategies that balance immediate needs with long-term scalability.
  • Mentor and develop your team through hands-on coaching, feedback, and career growth opportunities.
  • Participate in and manage regularly scheduled and ad-hoc on-call rotations, ensuring system reliability and rapid issue resolution as part of core team responsibilities.
  • Communicate effectively with senior leadership, aligning technical direction with company goals and advocating for your team’s needs.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years leading high-performing teams, particularly in enterprise technology and SaaS.
  • Proven experience managing engineering managers and overseeing teams of at least 20 engineers. 
  • Hands-on experience in full-stack development with a deep understanding of front-end and back-end technologies, software architecture, and design patterns. You stay close to technology through design, architecture, and code reviews.
  • Strong understanding of SaaS software architecture, cloud infrastructure (e.g., Google Cloud Platform), and modern development practices such as CI/CD.
  • Comfortable working in a very fast-paced environment with experience cultivating a strong engineering culture focused on iteration, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Passionate about growing and mentoring engineers. You have a proven track record of developing people as well as delivering high-quality products.
  • Experience with building 0-1 products as well as scaling mature products.

Our Hybrid Workplace

We have a unique hybrid workplace at Overjet — which combines the teamwork of meeting in person, with the flexibility of working from anywhere.

Many of our positions are based in Palo Alto, New York City, Boston, and Lahore. The Jetsetters who live in these “geo-hubs” come to the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, while having the option to work from home the rest of the week.
