Mission for the role:

The mission of the Employee Engagement team at SmartNews is to cultivate a vibrant workplace where every employee feels valued and connected, regardless of location. By partnering with leadership and cross-functional teams, we develop and implement innovative strategies that enhance the employee experience.

Responsibilities for the role:

Develop, oversee, and execute a unified employee engagement strategy that integrates with SmartNews's mission, values, and objectives itemized below:

  • Establish strong relationships with senior management and stakeholders to support employee-centric programs.
  • Design and implement effective communication and change management strategies for employee engagement.
  • Develop and manage recognition programs, conducting feedback campaigns to improve the employee experience.
  • Build a comprehensive Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) program, ensuring continuous support and visibility at all organizational levels.
  • Lead the Employee Engagement team, fostering innovation and collaborating on strategic projects with senior leadership.
  • Spearhead the adoption of innovative hybrid work solutions, focusing on their success and organizational support.

Requirements

Must Have experience:

  • Proven experience in leading with transparency and effectively influencing across organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to make efficient, high-quality decisions and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong track record in delivering exceptional verbal and written communications in Japanese and English.
  • Clear commitment to promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging through previous initiatives or leadership roles.
  • Successful collaboration in cross-functional teams and driving organizational change.

Nice to have experience:

  • Startup experience, especially wider scope that covers the business/strategy side as well
  • Experience working in non JP locations in a global company
