We are seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Design to lead our design team and drive the user experience strategy for our products. This role will involve overseeing the entire UX design process from research to final implementation, ensuring that user needs are at the forefront of product development. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of design principles, user-centered design methodologies, and a passion for creating exceptional experiences.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy:
- Build, lead and inspire a team of UX designers, providing mentorship and guidance to foster growth.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive UX strategy that aligns with the company’s vision and goals.
- Advocate for user-centered design principles across the organization.
Research & Insights:
- Conduct user research and usability testing to gather insights and inform design decisions.
- Analyze user feedback and behavior to continuously improve the user experience.
Design Execution
- Oversee the design process, ensuring high-quality deliverables that meet user needs and business objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Engineering, and Marketing, to ensure cohesive product development.
Design Systems & Standards
- Develop and maintain a design system that promotes consistency and efficiency across all products.
- Establish and enforce UX design standards and best practices within the organization.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Present design concepts and strategies to stakeholders, incorporating feedback and aligning with business goals.
- Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and creativity in design solutions.
- speak with customers closely, and help the entire product/design/engineering org build empathy for customers.
What are we looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field;
- 7+ years experience or equivalent experience designing digital products, with an experience in SaaS / SMB SaaS / B2B applications, with 3+ years experiences of leadership role.
- Experience in early stage startups, ideally having been with a company through the $1M to $100M ARR journey at least once, either as an IC or team lead.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in user-centered design, research methodologies, and innovative design solutions.
- Experience in working and collaborating with diverse teams in a dynamic, rapid growth environment — comfortable negotiating tradeoffs with product and engineering partners
- Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and prototyping tools.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts to non-design stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of current design trends, technology, and industry best practices.
