1. Design House Leadership
- Build the design philosophy and development of new products, ensuring they meet market needs and uphold our brand's standards.
- Foster a culture of innovation, ensuring our design house remains at the forefront of local design trends.
- Work closely with senior leadership to define the strategic direction of our design initiatives.
- Set and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to design's impact on business outcomes. This could be metrics like user engagement, conversion rates, customer satisfaction scores, etc., directly tied to revenue and growth.
2. Lead Design Academy
- Develop and oversee a comprehensive academy aimed at nurturing young product designers.
- Coordinate the delivery of regular workshops, seminars, and training sessions aimed at building design skills and capability in the community.
- Provide one-on-one mentorship to select designers, guiding them from concept to execution.
- Build Community through Outreach Programs, residencies to engage schools, and regional areas, promoting craft and design appreciation and education
3. Collaboration and Partnership
- Establish partnerships with independent artists, designers, and other stakeholders to promote local design products.
- Oversee collaborative projects, ensuring they align with our brand and quality standards.
- Build, lead, and mentor a dynamic team of designers by facilitating open communication and encouraging a collaborative environment.
4. Sustainability
- Emphasize sustainability with efforts to use sustainable materials and ensure ethical manufacturing processes.
- Work with the Business Lead to develop distribution channels, including retail, online, galleries, and showrooms for exhibitions of the creators to gain exposure and generate income.
- Build a portfolio of Market-Ready Products with affordability, functionality, and streamlining cost-effective production processes while delivering quality.
- Understand the business model and work with product, business and marketing teams to design features or campaigns that drive monetization.
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, or a related field with 5 years of experience in Design Methodology & Thinking, user research, product design with a proven track record of successful products.
Prior experience in teaching, mentoring, or coaching in design. A Strong network within the local design community and a Passion about fostering new talent and promoting local design will be an added advantage.
