The Head of Data is primarily responsible for leading our data strategy and infrastructure, driving innovation in data analytics, and ensuring the reliability and scalability of our data systems. This role will lead data engineers and analysts, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver actionable insights. The Head of Data is responsible for casting vision, providing direction, and leading ministry efforts within their team to outcomes that further Life.Church’s mission and reach people for Christ.

The Digital Product Team leverages technology to reach people worldwide, connecting them to our ministry and each other through our website, apps, and all Life.Church locations. What You'll Do
- Develop and execute a comprehensive data strategy aligned with Life.Church’s objectives.
- Lead the development and implementation of data governance policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with leadership to identify opportunities for leveraging data analytics and engineering to drive organizational innovation.
- Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of data analysts, engineers, and scientists.
- Provide guidance and leadership to foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Set clear goals and objectives for the team and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
- Oversee the development and implementation of advanced analytics techniques to extract actionable insights from large and complex datasets.
- Drive the development of predictive models, machine learning algorithms, and data visualization tools to support business decision-making.
- Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of data analytics processes and outputs.
- Lead the design, development, and optimization of data infrastructure and architecture to support scalable data processing and storage.
- Implement best practices for data acquisition, integration, transformation, and delivery.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in data engineering to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
- Collaborate closely with functional teams and ministries to understand outcomes and develop data-driven solutions.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on data analytics and engineering topics, providing guidance and support to cross-functional teams and ministries as needed.
Skills Needed to Succeed
- Ability to self-motivate, make independent decisions, and solve problems with innovation.
- Effective at multi-tasking and time management to meet strict deadlines while remaining flexible and open to change.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to clearly explain complicated processes and foster partnerships.
- Effective at process and organizational management to coordinate, structure, and provide vision to projects.
- Strong leadership skills and understanding of developing and guiding others.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, engineering, or a related field.
- Advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience in a leadership role overseeing data analytics and data engineering functions.
- Strong technical expertise in data analytics tools and techniques, including statistical analysis, machine learning, and data visualization.
