Role Summary
As the Head of Creative at Sophos, you will oversee our in-house creative studio team, leading our brand expression, creating a powerful, cohesive visual identity that distinguishes Sophos in the industry. You will ideate, execute, and optimize high-impact content and marketing collateral that drives awareness, engagement, and conversion across diverse marketing and media channels.
You will lead and develop a team of high-performing designers and be responsible for identifying and managing external agencies and vendors, as needed.
This pivotal role will directly influence our brand perception. Working closely with our product, web, and regional marketing teams, you will own our visual expression ensuring what is produced resonates with our worldwide audience of IT cybersecurity practitioners, resellers, and managed service providers.
The ideal candidate will be a passionate storyteller with excellent communication skills, and a unique ability to leverage design, copy, video, and digital assets to turn complex concepts into accessible, easy-to-understand content and marketing collateral. Candidates should be passionate about technology - ideally cybersecurity - with a proven track record of collaboration and tight business alignment.
What You Will Do
- 1. Leading and managing the creative studio team:
- Lead and direct the team in producing design, branding, and marketing collateral, ensuring alignment with overarching strategies.
- Oversee the creative process and provide guidance to the design team.
- Ensure a powerful, high-impact visual identity that sets the standard for creative across all platforms and spaces that teams follow.
- Outsourcing, briefing, and managing external agencies, when needed.
- Communicate creative vision across numerous projects.
2. Ensuring Brand Standards:
- Lead the evolution of the Sophos brand visual identity, inclusive of photography, illustration, iconography, layouts, typeface, tone of voice, and personality.
- Adjust visual identity tactics to work across the full marketing funnel.
- Ensure visual communication and brand standards are met across all projects.
- Manage and enforce a consistent brand style including maintaining brand guidelines.
- Review work, troubleshoot, and provide feedback to Sophos teams that are also producing content, so it is on-brand.
3. Hiring and Training:
- Actively participate in hiring and training creative staff.
- Manage and cultivate the career development of team members.
4. Collaboration and Presentation:
- Collaborate with other departments to develop content to support their programs.
- Work alongside Integrated Marketing to bring full-funnel campaigns to life.
- Collaborate with a lead copywriter as part of the overall design process.
- Work alongside a digital producer to triage creative projects, timelines, reviews, and deliverables, to ensure projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.
- Present creative work to internal stakeholders and top-level management set in strategic framing to convey the idea being presented.
5. Project Management:
- Manage creative projects holistically, adding value to what is being produced, so it is complementary to our overall brand design system
- Work within a ticket management system, like Asana or Jira.
6. Creative skills and tools:
- Create world-class original graphic design, that is modern, sophisticated, and uplifts the Sophos brand
- Establish a highly effective photography and videography standard to support our campaigns and initiatives
- Direct photography and videography specialists on what is captured and created.
- Create print, video, web UX design, digital / display, tradeshow/event graphics.
- Design landing pages, sales assets and brand templates.
- Develop product, solution and campaign materials.
- Possesses expertise working in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, and Figma.
- Bring complex and abstract technological concepts to life visually in a way that communicates the value proposition clearly.
What You Will Bring
- 15 years in a brand and content marketing role within a B2B SaaS company targeting mid-market and enterprise-level clients, demonstrating expertise in both product marketing, design, and content marketing.
- Experience in IT or cybersecurity fields is highly preferred, showcasing a deep understanding of the industry's nuances and challenges.
- Proficiency in tailoring messages to diverse audiences, and translating technical content into compelling narratives for various purposes.
- Strong grasp of inbound/outbound marketing, campaign development, and content strategy with a record of accomplishment in crafting engaging B2B content.
- Proven ability to lead teams, innovate campaign and content strategies, and drive brand recognition through impactful storytelling.
- Passion for storytelling through strongly crafted branded campaigns.
- Experience of working with end users and Channel Partner audiences.
In the United States, the base salary for this role ranges from $158,000 to $263,000. In addition to base salary, we offer additional compensation including bonus eligibility and a comprehensive benefits package. A candidate’s specific pay within this range will depend on a variety of factors, including job-related skills, training, location, experience, relevant education, certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
