Founded in 2017, our technology-led approach has redefined the experience of selling a car, generating thousands of monthly car sales and helping us to grow to a team of more than 400 people across our London and Brighton offices.

The role

Motorway is looking for a Head of Creative to join the Creative team.

Reporting to the CMO, you will lead and execute all Motorway Brand Creative Team initiatives. You will manage and develop a creative team of designers, copywriters, freelancers, producers, and external production partners and agencies. 

The Head of Creative will be a strategic thinker, problem solver, and proactive cross-functional partner who can deliver impactful ideas in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of creative trends in tech, with expertise in branding, advertising, digital platforms (including social media and CMS), web usability, accessibility, digital trends, email templates, and website design. You will be willing to take creative risks, push boundaries, and interpret creative direction when needed.

We are looking for an excellent team leader who can elevate the team's creativity while collaborating effectively with the marketing team and broader company stakeholders.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the creative team, providing clear goals and direction, inspiring and motivating them to excel and push creative boundaries.
  • Be the primary owner of how the Motorway brand is expressed through powerful creative ideas. 
  • Collaborate with marketing leaders across Consumer, B2B, Product, Growth Marketing, and Communications to translate briefs into compelling creative solutions and ensure brand consistency.
  • Present creative work, clearly explaining the brief, strategy, ideas, design decisions, and how they align with business objectives.
  • Foster a culture of creative excellence and mentor our talent to achieve world-class creative output.
  • Partner with the Head of Marketing Operations and Creative Operations Manager on budgeting, project management, and people management for the Motorway Creative Studio.
  • Work closely with the Marketing Operations Team, to ensure an understanding of design needs across the business and help to explore new practices to ensure efficiencies and reactive problem-solving.
  • Oversee brand guidelines, ensuring consistency across all channels.
  • Partner with the Creative Operations Manager to manage team resources, workloads, and timelines.

Requirements

  • Proven leadership experience in in-house consumer marketing, with experience in developing and scaling teams.
  • Experience working on brand and performance campaigns for tech brands at scale, delivering high-volume campaigns.
  • Proficient understanding of creative across channels, social platform best practices, and user acquisition KPIs.
  • Proven track record and a robust portfolio of successful 360-degree creative work and world-class campaigns across multiple channels and territories.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates your ability to develop and execute successful creative output and a proven track record of commercial success
  • An excellent communicator with a proven ability to inspire trust and confidence and influence at senior levels, both internally and externally.
  • Experience in leadership positions, with a demonstrated ability to lead, grow, and retain a team while being hands-on.
  • Demonstrated experience with goal setting, delegating tasks, team accountability, and providing meaningful feedback.
  • Ability to keep a pulse on cultural trends, including social, brand, and content relevance.
  • Deep understanding of using customer insights, user research, and audience segmentation to drive results.
  • A great team leader with a consistent track record of cross-functional leadership and partnership.
  • Maintains a high degree of self-motivation and autonomy, taking the initiative and involving stakeholders as needed.
  • Positive, committed, and flexible with a 'can-do' attitude.
  • A problem solver and forward-thinker.
  • Comfortable with a dynamic environment with changing priorities.
  • B2B experience is a bonus too.
