Rhombus is looking for a Head of Computer Vision Models who will be a combination lead and contributor, starting off as sole contributor but with an opportunity to build out a team. In addition, they will be responsible for developing methods for evaluating and improving foundation models and refining the data used in training them, applying data centric AI approaches. 

What You'll Do:

  • Determine where to get the images or videos, such as from public datasets, internal databases, cameras, or web scraping. 
  • Configure and deploy devices or software to capture new data if existing data is insufficient. 
  • Conduct detailed failure analysis on large GenAI models and machine learning models in different aspects like Operational/Ethical/Security & Privacy 
  • Remove duplicates, corrupt files, and irrelevant data. 
  • Structure the data into a format that is easy to work with, typically categorizing and storing it in directories. 
  • Prototype novel evaluation and benchmark methods from foundation model literature research  
  • Develop tools for analyzing and visualizing data  
  • Design and implement experiments (DOE) for engineering studies and large-scale user studies and analyze results 

What We're Looking For:

  • BS and a minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience 
  • Work experience in statistical data analysis and machine learning techniques 
  • Familiar with in-depth analysis and evaluation of machine learning model 
  • Background with analytical tools such as Jupyter, Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib 
  • Familiarity with various foundation models in GenAI, like VAEs, Transformers, Diffusion Models, NeRF, CLIP, etc. 
  • Expertise of video analysis algorithms or subjective/objective video quality algorithms, and pioneering technologies 
  • Expertise in photography, videography, or image science and a passion for learning more 
  • Experience in training models using frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, Jax, etc. 
  • Proficient in distributed systems and a good understanding of operating systems 
  • Expert in at least one scripting language, preferably Python 
  • Self-motivated and curious with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities and a highly developed aim to improve how things work 
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills, along with strong collaborative abilities 

This is an onsite position based in Sacramento, CA.
Candidates must be able to commute to the office 3 times a week. 

Compensation 
Base Salary: $140,000 - $170,000

Additional forms of compensation, depending on the role, include sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and equity in the company. Individual pay is determined based on the candidate's primary work/hiring location and additional factors, such as skills and experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. Further details about compensation for the role can be discussed during the interview process.
