The Role  

Reporting into the Director, Technology Strategy & Operations, this role is accountable in establishing the team, practice, tooling and processes to support the ongoing capability for workforce management across Technology. The role is accountable for establishing and then maintaining capabilities to manage the workforce within the Technology business including; people and skill demand/supply, augmented people strategies and processes (partners and contractors), technology career pathways, as well as optimization of workforce processes for our people in Technology (e.g. on-boarding). It is also responsible for establishing practices to best engage and use our Technology workforce from allocating and tracking capacity to projects and priorities, to ensuring we have a view of the technology capabilities for us to continue to be successful in the long-term. 

This is a function that does not exist currently within SEEK Technology. However, with the business’ strategic priorities driving a significant increase in workforce demand, and Technology being such a critical part of this, this role has been identified as an essential element to meet SEEK’s growth ambitions.  

The Head of Technology Workforce Management will be responsible for promoting the value of workforce management and engaging with key partners to ensure the Technology workforce is right-sized with accurate forecasted demand that is consistently being met with amazing talent, who have a great career experience within Technology.  

Key Responsibilities 

  • Build a team accountable for developing and managing demand plans that align with business needs, current and future projects, and goals and achievements. 

  • Work with HR to implement or develop workforce planning mechanisms to support forecasting, modelling, and operational action planning, including strategies to resolve staffing constraints. 

  • Establish the practices for planning and allocation of our people and resources across Technology priorities and projects. 

  • Hold forecast review meetings with respective leaders on a regular basis. Work with people managers to match demand with capacity. Perform financial and business analytics requests as needed. 

  • Develop monthly reports, including but not limited to allocation reporting, pipeline/forecast, role-based reporting, net position on supply gap, and augmented staffing. 

  • Emphasize the importance of Workforce Management as a critical function for SEEK Technology's success. Conduct informative sessions and training to improve comprehension and alignment with this function. 

  • Partner with HR, key internal and external contacts, resourcing partners and Technology market leaders to understand the composition of the regional talent pools and find opportunities to optimise our workforce. 

  • Partner with key internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement a comprehensive Technology wide graduate curriculum that meets industry standards. Continuously improve the program based on feedback and emerging trends. 

  • Working closely with HR and Senior Leaders, be accountable for the career experience for our Technology staff. This includes defining and maintaining the career pathways that aligns with organizational goals and employee development needs. to enable career growth within Technology (e.g. promotion practices, grad programs) 

  • Work closely with the Finance team to ensure workforce management processes provide direct input into the financial planning cycles (i.e. budgeting and forecasting) so that there is a more refined connection between workforce planning and the financials. 

  • Establish processes and channels to scale at speed with partners and contractors with defined rate cards and arrangements with agencies to payroll and on-board in a standardized way. 

  • Consult in determining the right staffing solutions; contractor vs. FTE vs. partners trade-off. 

  • Know the latest in understanding the organizational matrix (solutions, markets, geographies, lines of business, internal functions) and be up to date on changes as they occur. 

  • Constantly evaluate the needs of the Technology to understand the talent pool including numbers, individual skill profiles/interests, group skill gaps/surpluses, and potential training needs. 

The Team 

SEEK operates a matrix function – the role will establish and build a new function within Technology and the role holder is expected to consult widely in understanding how to establish an ongoing Workforce Management function in support of Technology’s agenda. 

This role is a key engagement and integration point across Technology as well as all parts of SEEK and positioning the team and its function within SEEK’s practice and agenda will be a part of role's priority.  

It is expected that this function will need to build out a team to support the requirements of the function. It will be the role’s accountability to define that team and recruit as appropriate. 

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience 

  • Significant experience in workforce/resource management in the Technology field. 

  • Demonstrated ability to build a workforce management practice from zero. 

  • Experience in establish and run contractor/partner engagement and on-boarding. 

  • Led initiatives or program to optimize people processes and implement tooling to simplify and standardize. 

  • High degree of professionalism in all areas (communication, approach, style). 

  • Highly developed diplomacy, influencing, negotiation and conflict management skills. 

  • Ability to lead multiple, high profile/value and complex projects  

  • Effectively work under pressure and with short timelines/competing demands. 

  • Ability to work effectively across multiple geographies and cultures. 

  • Ability to partner at all levels of the organization internally and externally.
