About the Role
Help revolutionize healthcare through AI-powered solutions that enhance both patient care and provider capabilities. As our Head of AI, you'll spearhead our generative AI initiatives and lead a talented team in developing cutting-edge conversational AI products that directly impact healthcare outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Define, shape, and refine our overall AI roadmap in alignment with company objectives and market demands
  • Drive the development of state-of-the-art conversational AI systems that serve both patients and healthcare providers, focusing on creating intuitive, empathetic, and clinically relevant interactions
  • Enhance our LLM Ops and evaluation systems, which assess the performance and safety of our LLMs for various healthcare tasks, and prioritize patient safety
  • Leverage the latest AI research and technology to enhance our LLMs via RAG and fine-tuning, including RLHF (incorporating feedback from both users and clinicians)
  • Optimize computational efficiency and cost-effectiveness of LLM deployments
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a team of top-tier AI systems and prompt engineers within a highly competitive market
  • Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, including healthcare executives, clinicians, researchers, and technology partners, to drive innovation and thought leadership

Required Qualifications

  • Track record of successfully developing and deploying production-scale AI systems
  • Experience with training and deployment frameworks for LLMs in production environments
  • Strong commitment to AI safety and ethical principles, particularly in healthcare applications
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans in collaboration with Senior Leadership team members
  • 8+ years of Python programming experience focused on AI & ML solutions including bringing these solutions to production
  • 5+ years of experience in NLP
  • 3+ years in a Sr Manager or Director role
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and rapid change, capable of adding structure as needed
  • Advanced Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience in the healthcare industry, for instance in clinical NLP
  • Full-stack development experience, ideally in healthcare-facing applications, with a focus on React and integrating front-end AI capabilities 
  • AWS ML and Life Science Cloud expertise
  • Published research or patents in AI/ML, particularly in healthcare applications
