Intracom Defense (IDE) is the leading defense company in Greece with significant international activity. IDE designs, develops and manufactures products and systems that incorporate advanced in-house developed technologies in the areas of Missile Electronics, Tactical Communication and Information Systems, Border and Area Security solutions, Hybrid Electric Power Systems and Unmanned Surface and Air platforms.

IDE is a registered NATO supplier and participates in international development and production programs, as well as in international collaborations for the production and export of defense equipment.

IDE is currently looking for dynamic and ambitious Engineers to join the Hardware Digital, Analogue & Power Systems Design Section of our Products Development Department.

1. SENIOR POWER SYSTEMS HARDWARE DESIGN ENGINEER

The ideal candidate will participate in:

  • Hardware design and development of state-of-the-art hybrid power systems that incorporate diesel generator, solar systems and batteries in the range of 5 to 200KVA concerning defense applications. The successful candidate will participate in the complete hardware development cycle from system design to documented release, prototype testing and evaluation.
  • Integration, testing, verification and documentation.
  • Preparation of: Firmware-Hardware Specifications in collaboration with the Embedded Software Engineers to meet product requirements.
  • Preparation of Technical Documentation.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor/University Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline.
  • Familiarity with power systems modelling & simulation (MATLAB, SIMULINK, P-SPICE).
  • At least five (5) years of proven working experience in Hardware Design & Development.
  • Proven experience in power systems design and complex systems integration testing & evaluation.
  • Fluent use of English language.
  • Fulfilled military obligations is an asset.

Desired:

  • Post-graduate Degree (MSc, PhD) on Hardware design and development will be considered an asset.\
  • Familiarity with high power battery systems & renewable technologies.
  • Familiarity with microgrids, grid interconnection, autonomous systems.
  • Knowledge of diesel engines & OBD communication protocols.

2. SENIOR HARDWARE DIGITAL DESIGN ENGINEER

Responsibilities

  • Design and development of state-of-the-art digital communication systems.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor/University Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline.
  • At least five (5) years of proven experience in digital and analog design, development and complex system integration.
  • Familiarity with digital and analog electronic measurements (Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers).
  • Verification & Acceptance testing according to specifications.
  • Fluent use of the English language (both oral & written).

Desired:

  • Postgraduate studies (MSc./Ph.D.) on a relevant technical area will be considered a plus.
  • Working experience in PCB design using CAD tools for schematic design.
  • Digital signal processing, digital communications, telecom applications and protocols.
  • Modelling & simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink).
  • Digital design and computer architecture.

3. SENIOR ANALOG HARDWARE DESIGN ENGINEER

Responsibilities

  • Hardware design and development of state-of-the-art Analog & Power Electronics circuits. The successful candidate will participate in the complete hardware development cycle from system & board design to documented release, prototype testing and evaluation.
  • Integration, testing, verification and documentation.
  • Preparation of: Firmware-Hardware Specifications in collaboration with the Embedded Software Engineers to meet product requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor's/University’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least five (5) years of proven working experience in Hardware Design & Development.
  • Proven experience in analog electronics design, integration testing & evaluation.
  • Familiarity with topologies for: DC/DC & AC/DC converters, low power analog electronics.
  • Familiarity with power systems modelling & simulation (MATLAB, P-SPICE/LT-SPICE).
  • Familiarity with design principles for EMI/EMC compliance, testing & troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with PCB CAD processes.
  • Fluent use of English language.
  • Fulfilled military obligations is an asset.

Desired:

  • Post-graduate Degree (MSc, PhD) on Hardware design and development will be considered an asset.
  • Good knowledge of using Spectrum Analyzers, Audio Analyzers.
  • Familiarity with PCB CAD Mentor Graphics PADS/Xpedition.
  • Familiarity with digital designs & microcontroller designs.

4. PCB DESIGN ENGINEER

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will:

  • coordinate and collaborate with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, manufacturing, and test engineers.
  • work detailed layout design and documentation of PWBs in collaboration with electrical engineers who will provide the schematic drawings.
  • perform component placement, connections, netlist and BOM generation using PADS Professional.
  • manage electronic libraries of schematic symbols, components/pad footprints and component models for the design group to ensure accuracy of design in accordance with IPC standards.
  • handle Engineering Change Notes.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Electrical/Electronic Technical Educational background.
  • Knowledge of common electronic component types and their functions.
  • Understanding of PWB manufacturing standards and tolerances.
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic components manufacturer’s data sheets and dimensional drawings.
  • Must be committed to quality design, implementation and documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Good teamwork and communications skills.

 Desired:

  • Experience in schematic drafting and PCB layout.
  • Knowledge of IPC standards.
  • Experience with creepage and clearance (e.g., for high voltage designs).
  • Experience with digital, analog, and mixed signal designs with exposure to high-speed routing techniques preferable (e.g., length matching, differential pairs).
  • Experience with PADS Professional PCB Design software is a plus.

5. RF DESIGN ENGINEER

Responsibilities

Active participation in the full design life cycle of radio modems with various levels of complexity, for tactical wireless communication systems and data links for unmanned systems based on Software Defined Radio platforms.

This position requires an RF Design Engineer for implementing circuit designs based on RF components, PCB CAD design tools, PCB processes and RF design tools. The successful candidate will participate in the design, development and testing of several wireless radio systems and closely co-operate with other engineering groups, such as Power Supply, Digital Hardware, Mechanical and Software.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor/University Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
  • At least 3 years of experience in RF active circuit design on a PCB level for frequencies of up to 18 GHz.
  • At least 3 years of experience in radio system analysis, circuit simulation, system and PCB integration.
  • Experience with RF circuit level simulation tools, such as, AWR Microwave Office, AWR VSS, Keysight Genesys or ADS.
  • Experience with using Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, Power Meters and Oscilloscopes.
  • Familiarity with several RF components and datasheets.
  • Familiarity with PCB CAD tools.
  • Familiarity with electromagnetic simulation tools such as CST Microwave Studio, HFSS, etc.
  • Good communication skills and collaboration spirit.

Desired:

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
  • Experience with 802.11b/g physical protocol.
  • Experience with active and passive microwave RF designs using linear and constant envelope modulations such as, OFDM, BPSK, QPSK, QAM, SO-QPSK, PCM/FM, etc.
  • Experience with microwave RF Power Amplifier design.
  • Familiarity with uC’s and embedded programming.

6. FPGA DESIGN ENGINEER

Responsibilities
The FPGA Design Engineer will have active participation in FPGA/SoC related projects involving design, development, integration and testing of Tactical Wireless communication systems & data links for Unmanned systems, based on Software Defined Radio platforms.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for:

  • System Design involvement starting from the early stages of the project.
  • Hierarchy definition and design partitioning in complex, embedded processing systems targeting SoC or high-end FPGAs.
  • Full design flow starting from RTL development and up to final integration and testing on H/W.
  • Design for Testing and Reusability.
  • IP-based design flow particularly in conformance with the latest Vivado/Vitis System Design suites and guidelines from AMD (Xilinx).
  • Complex debugging and trouble-shooting cases through H/W and S/W boundaries in SoC based designs.
  • Collaboration with Software Embedded, Software DSP and RF/Antenna engineers to design and validate Software Defined Radio systems.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • University Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications or related discipline.
  • Digital design and FPGA development using VHDL (or Verilog).
  • Experience/familiarity with AMD (Xilinx) FPGAs and tools (ISE and VIVADO).
  • Experience/familiarity with Mentor’s ModelSim/QuestaSim.
  • Familiarity and hands-on experience with digital electronic measurements (using Oscilloscopes, Logic Analysers) and troubleshooting in digital logic circuits.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills both in English and Greek.
  • Fulfilled military obligations for male candidates.
  • 2+ years of proven/working experience in FPGA Design Flow targeting medium to high scale devices (FPGAs and SoCs).

Desired:

  • AMD (Xilinx) embedded SW development environment (AMD Xilinx SDK/VITIS for SoCs with ARM Cortex and/or Microblaze cores).
  • Software Defined Radio architectures and platforms.
  • Model Based Design methodology and tools.
  • Wireless communications and digital signal processing (DSP).
  • High speed Digital Up-Conversion and Digital Down-Conversion designs.
  • High speed serial busses (Rapid I/O, PCIe etc.).
  • C/C++ knowledge and experience in ARM, MicroBlaze programming.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Tcl, Python).
  • Post-graduate studies in relevant technical areas.

7. ANTENNA DESIGN ENGINEER

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop microwave antennas from concept through to production within short timescales and fixed budgets.
  • Define antenna specifications for complete wireless systems and datalinks.
  • Perform radio coverage analysis and simulations using radio propagation coverage tools.
  • Develop new antenna concepts for cost reductions and performance enhancements for existing and future products.
  • Close cooperation with Mechanical, Systems, Test and Production Engineering Teams.
  • Building of prototypes and pre-production units.
  • Conduct antenna measurements in our in-house Anechoic Chamber.
  • Conduct various environmental tests in our in-house Environmental Lab.
  • Meet required deliveries.
  • Provide regular progress updates and adequate warnings.
  • Provide technical support to other departments and customers.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor/University Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
  • Experience in microwave antenna design.
  • Experience with using Network Analyzers.
  • Experience with test & measurement in Anechoic chamber.
  • Experience using CST Studio Suite electromagnetic simulation tool.
  • Good communication skills and collaboration spirit.

Desired:

  • Master Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
  • Familiarity with RF active circuit design on a PCB level for frequencies of up to 18 GHz .
