Group Technical Accounting And External Audit Senior Manager

The overall objective of this position is to support the Finance Organization (Group CFO, Senior Finance Directors, National Finance Directors and the Global Accounting & Consolidation Team) with IFRS technical accounting expertise and to manage external audit activities at Group level and across all companies of the Group in terms of scope, timing, budget and deliverables.

ROLE & OBJECTIVES:                    

As part of the Group Consolidation, Accounting, Financial Reporting, Technical Accounting and External Audit management team, the Group Technical Accounting and External Audit Senior Manager is driving the Company’s external audits and external financial reporting excellence.

It is important to note that in addition to the external audit of its consolidated financial statements, the Group carries statutory audits for 100% of the Group companies (ca. 1,300), even if not mandated by local regulation, as additional layer of control over the Group’s financials.

Relying on a solid expertise of relevant accounting rules (IFRS) and strong audit experience (ISA), this role will ensure compliance of the Group’s external financial reporting:

  • Monitor adoption of new accounting and auditing rules; and analyze impacts to the organizational external financial reporting, supported by accounting positions papers. Focus should be impacts to Group reporting, with occasional support to National Finance teams on local changes.
  • Support National Finance Directors and other Global Functional Finance Leads, with specific accounting matters (e.g. revenue recognition, goodwill impairment, M&A related accounting, litigations,…)
  • Interact with Markets Regulatory Institutions (CSSF in Luxembourg and AMF in France) on material accounting topics;
  • Take an instrumental role around the Group’s 2024 CSRD ESG reporting compliance, in close relationship with internal Sustainability teams;
  • Align with Group external auditors on material accounting topics;
  • Maintain Group Accounting Policies and Manual, including providing training to impacted finance staff globally;
  • Coordinate the Group’s external audit during half-year and year-end close reporting in close relationship with the Group Accounting and Consolidation Director;
  • Manage fees and appointments of external auditors across the Group, for consolidated activities, scope 1 (consolidated entities, ca 150, representing 70% of Group Revenues, EBITDA and Assets) and scope 2 entities (non-consolidated entities, ca 1,150), representing ca 30% of Group Revenues, EBITDA and Assets), in liaison with National Finance Directors for each country;
  • Monitor and support National Finance teams with timely completion of all statutory audits by May of consecutive year;
  • Track external audit findings and support local and Group Finance teams with remediation activities;
  • Provide frequent updates on external audit status, fees, findings and corrective actions to the Audit Committee;
  • Identify opportunities to optimize external audits at Group and local Component level, in close collaboration with other Finance (Senior) Directors, Internal Audit, IT teams and External Auditors.
  • Master’ degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or Engineering, from a leading university; MBA is considered a plus;
  • Minimum 5-7 years of professional career in external audit, internal audit and/or financial controlling roles with increasing level & scope of responsibility. A successful experience in a significant external audit firm is a plus.  
  • Technical accounting expertise around IFRS and ISA is required, Lux GAAP is considered a plus.
  • Solid understanding of finance policies, processes and systems in a multinational environment
  • Strong project & change management skills, showing a continuous drive to challenge the status quo and willing to achieve meaningful results;
  • Team player with good interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
