Group Tax Director

We are now searching for our next Tax Director to lead the Tax team and support and add value to the company in its growth journey. This is a great opportunity to lead a high competent team of tax professionals in a fast-growing company with global operations and high business complexity.

About the role
The tax team’s mission is to support ETG on its growth journey, with respect to VAT and tax. Our Tax team is responsible for all tax related matters in the group and works in close collaboration with Operations, Legal and also the other departments within Finance - which are Accounting, Financial Control, Treasury, Business Control and Travel order reconciliation. The finance department is placed in Athens, Uppsala, Stockholm, India and Canada. 

The tax team is composed of 5 (but growing) senior professionals within the area of VAT, tax and transfer pricing.  The team is responsible for compliance with tax regulations, optimizing tax strategies, and managing tax risks and supporting the company in its growth. Etraveli Group has 40 legal entities around the world and operations in over 70 countries and constantly expanding in new countries and business set-ups.

Main responsibilities
The responsibility includes actively leading a team of skilled tax professionals within the areas of income tax, VAT, transfer pricing and more specifically:  

Income tax & withholding tax

  • Income tax reporting in all countries where the company is present. 
  • Supervision and compliance to withholding tax-legislations 
  • Capital structure assessments 
  • Tax impact of M&A and restructurings
  • Tax planning and optimization
  • Responsible for processes and internal controls to manage tax compliance and risks
  • Supervising the effective response to tax related events such as tax audits, voluntary disclosures and appeals.

VAT

  • Responsible for VAT-compliance and reporting in all countries where the group operates
  • Responsible for processes and controls to manage VAT-compliance and risks
  • Supervising the effective response to significant VAT related events such as VAT audits, voluntary disclosures and appeals
  • Technical expertise related to VAT-setup and flows in our ERP-system and associated reporting

Transfer pricing

  • Responsible for elaboration of transfer pricing policy and compliance to transfer pricing rules. 
  • Responsible for processes and controls to manage transfer pricing compliance and risks

Other related areas

  • To act proactively with respect to VAT, tax and withholding tax legislations when setting up new entities and business areas and be a valuable partner to the business in those cases
  • Continuously raising awareness of the importance and relevance of VAT and tax within the business and managing a proactive tax department that is a natural stakeholder in business decisions. 
  • Provide support and training to Accounting Shared Services team in VAT and tax related areas 
  • Responsibility for procuring high quality and cost efficient local advisors  
  • Lead complex tax related projects 
  • Due diligence
  • Review commercial contracts from a tax perspective

Requirements

  • Strong academic credentials including university degree with relevant education including accounting, law, economics, business administration, or any combination thereof
  • Extensive experience (+10 years) from working in a tax department in a multinational company preferably with online sales coupled with Big 4 experience
  • Broad experience with tax regulations in various countries impacting multinational corporations
  • Experience in reviewing complex contracts to identify and advise on tax consequences
  • Mergers & Acquisitions experience
  • Strong understanding of broad global corporate tax matters 
  • Proven track record of leading a team of senior tax professionals 
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Strong Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office skills
  • Intellectually curious and eager to learn and develop every day
  • Thrives where change is the constant and do not back from ambiguous environments
  • Able to travel when necessary
