Gearset is hiring a

Group Product Manager

Cambridge, United Kingdom
Full-Time
Gearset was started by a team of DevOps experts who set out to solve their own problems when they realised they couldn’t customise and release changes using the tried and tested best practices they were used to from other ecosystems. Salesforce is a fantastic platform that's well-loved by its customers, but it's no secret that it wasn’t designed with DevOps in mind.

Which is where Gearset comes in. We have evolved from helping individuals deploy changes using source control, to becoming the mission control centre for teams with 50+ developers and admins who are coordinating their changes at scale, balancing complex workflows with autonomy and governance requirements.

But we believe there is more to do. We see a world where every Salesforce team is a high performing DevOps team, shipping well tested, secure and high quality code to production, whilst being able to proactively detect and respond to issues as they arise. We want to keep bringing the best of DevOps to Salesforce teams. So we are continuing to expand our product strategy and are looking for someone to help drive this forward.

What’s the opportunity for a Group Product Manager at Gearset?

  • Take ownership of a key piece of our overall product strategy, conducting the diagnosis and forming the plan to help us achieve our stated goals.
  • Report directly to our VP Product and partner closely with the other Group Product Managers and the CPO.
  • Manage, coach and develop a team of product managers who will report to you and are all contributors to achieving the group's strategy.
  • Collaborate with Product Marketing to ensure we are driving a differentiated and defensible story in the market, positioning us as the leaders in the Salesforce DevOps space.
  • Partner closely with the go-to-market teams, driving a commercial focus and ensuring the product strategy supports our revenue and growth objectives. Ensure these teams are equipped to successfully sell and enable our customers.
  • Build relationships with partners, vendors and contributors in the Salesforce ecosystem to further our shared product goals.

What you’ll achieve

  • You’ll have diagnosed and implemented a product strategy for the whole DevOps Lifecycle Group for the next 12 months, which plays to the strengths of the individual products whilst unlocking a cohesive story of how these capabilities further the goals of teams shipping software.
  • You’ll have likely taken a product from 0 to 1, doubled down on investments in our current offerings and deployed tactics such as commercial partnerships to achieve your product strategy.
  • You’ll have demonstrated progress against commercial and product goals and have keen awareness of how you are contributing to, or learning from, the overall business performance.
  • You’ll have built a high momentum operating model with your teams, translating the strategy into a coherent tactical plan, which is proven out by a regular cadence of shipping to learn.
  • You’ll have partnered closely with product marketing, to define and execute a go to market strategy, focusing deeply on how we differentiate and focus on the JTBD.
  • You’ll have developed and coached your product team to be doing their best work.
  • You’ll be viewed as an exemplar of leadership, continually demonstrating our core values and product principles.

About you

  • Have been in a Group Product Manager, or equivalent position, for a couple of years or more with a proven track record of developing and owning a key area of an overall product strategy.
  • Experienced in managing teams of 2-4 people, including hiring and coaching the team to success.
  • Strong background in DevOps, having worked on and built products in this problem space.
  • Are able to conduct deep strategy diagnosis, going broad and deep, considering a wide range of quantitative and qualitative signals to really get to the crux of the problem and define a crisp strategy.
  • Have an outstanding product sense, with an ability to uncover the core jobs to be done and demonstrate cognitive empathy for users.
  • Have experience of taking products through the full product lifecycle, from discovery through to validation and ideally launch, with a mix of problem complexity and scope.
  • Enjoy talking to users, and have an infectious passion for building products that solve clear user problems in delightful ways

Great to haves

  • Experience working in the Salesforce ecosystem
  • Experience of helping scale a product function by forming a new group
  • Some software engineering experience, even if only limited

Salary and benefits (the stuff you’d expect!)

  • Salary is £120k - £140k (depending on experience)
  • This is a full time opportunity, working Monday to Friday with the option of flexible home working (for most of us that looks like a few days a month in the office)

  • Top-end hardware provided
  • Free lunch in the office
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (with the option to buy an extra 5 each year)
