The Opportunity - Group Product Lead, Teams & Payroll

You are equal parts product visionary and growth strategist - steering the way to innovation that elevates our customers’ businesses and by extension, our business. You’ll use data to understand what creates customer growth and the most impactful ways we personalize the FreshBooks experience to help different customers get there. You are passionate about tackling big challenges head on, delivering simply amazing experiences, and ready to back it up with results. 

Note: This role is Remote meaning you can work remotely from the location stated above. Workign some in office days in the downtown Toronto office might be required up to twice a month if needed.

What You'll Do as a Group Product Management Lead

  • Be a subject matter expert in your product domain, and a product area leader across the Product Design & Engineering (PDE) organization
  • Own and lead your product area mission, strategy and multi-year roadmap, and product metrics
  • Foster and build relationships with your technical leadership peers and stakeholders to drive alignment
  • Critically evaluate, shape, and create product management best practices across the PDE organization
  • Hold your team and Product, Design, and Engineering counterparts accountable to deliver outcomes with quality and efficiency, that take into consideration customer & usage data
  • Apply your deep understanding of business and customer metrics and embed data-driven decision making into your team’s product management processes 
  • Navigate tough conversations with stakeholders across the organization to ensure alignment towards business priorities.
  • Effectively lead your PM team, ensuring continual improvements in their PM craft and career progression

What You'll Bring to the Role

  • 8+ years of product management experience with a proven track record of driving business growth through product innovation, extension, and market expansion.
  • Deep understanding of SaaS business models and support strategies, spanning from customer acquisition to late lifecycle engagement. You are adept at setting multi-year visions, roadmaps, and business plans to steer strategy and planning.
  • Exceptional ability to simplify complex concepts and clearly articulate your results to partners and executives, particularly in terms of adoption, engagement, and key product metrics.
  • Strong proficiency in data analytics, with experience using data to inform strategic decisions. You collaborate closely with data management teams to establish best practices in your product area.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor junior product managers, helping them refine their product management skills.
  • Solid grasp of SDLC and the impact of the tech stack on your product.
  • In-depth understanding of what makes a world-class user experience and how to integrate technology with design thinking to create and enable superior customer system designs.

You'll Stand Out If You Bring Experience In

  • Working knowledge of payroll, HRIS, and accounting software, especially within a SaaS platform context.
  • Experience as a small business owner or in managing products specifically designed for small businesses.
  • Proven track record of bringing major features to market quickly and iterating based on customer feedback.
  • Experience working with business cases and P&L to drive impactful business outcomes.
  • Previous experience advocating for Product-Led Growth (PLG), educating stakeholders and team members on best practices, and fostering a mindset shift within the organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree or MBA in related field
