Group Leader - Power (Substation and Distribution)

The Vice President, Power is an integral member of our executive leadership team in which they will lead the development and execution of exciting projects within the Power industry. The Vice President of Engineering plays a critical role in support of the quality and growth of our Power (Substation and Distribution) team members, ensuring that all project designs follow all engineering standards and codes.  They will be responsible for communicating regularly with vendors, contractors, organizations, team members, the board, and community officials. 

You will have total ownership of the group’s project management including project deliverables, budgets, quality assurance and schedule whilst leading ongoing staff development and retention efforts.

You will establish goals, priorities, and objectives; as well as develop and manage guidelines, policies and procedures. In addition, you will be responsible for business development for construction management and construction administration opportunities on both horizontal and vertical projects in both the public and the private sector market in collaboration with the business development and executive teams to drive profitability.


 

What you will do:

  • Lead a national substation and distribution engineering design team.
  • Ensure QA/QC practises and procotcols are met.
  • Manage existing client expectations and relationships.
  • Research and pursue new business leads for the growth of the business.
  • Source, direct and evaluate new opportunities that are within the organization's strategic growth and development plans.
  • Define, document and implement a formal strategy encompassing target market approach, objectives and performance goals.
  • Work collaboratively with other leaders to establish and achieve the organization's strategic priorities and mission. This includes developing and executing cross-department initiatives and building internal and external relationships needed for success.
  • Generate competitive advantage by leveraging data to identify trends, anticipating market changes and taking appropriate actions.
  • Maintain a robust pipeline, including the development of acquisition opportunities, transaction execution and decision support analysis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for:

  • Past experience within substation and distribution engineering design.
  • Past experience leading engineers within the substation and distribution design space.
  • Proven experience within a utility or consulting for the utility.
  • Proven excellence in managing critical relationships with cross-functional internal and external teams.
  • Understanding of CAD software.
  • Ability to estimate, plan, and schedule substation projects
  • Ability to support proposal activities

Your background/experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineers License required
  • Fifteen (15) years of substation design engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
  • knowledge with applicable IEEE / EIC codes and standards.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Memberships and active participation in discipline specific professional organizations such as IEEE.
