Group Financial Controller

The Finance function at Carbon Clean is part of our Corporate Services group, a team dedicated to efficiently and effectively supporting and partnering with the business, led by the Chief Corporate and Financial Officer. The function is led by the Director of Finance The Group Financial Controller is responsible for leading our global financial operations and control environment, ensuring delivery of financial excellence in day-to-day financial operations, and exemplary financial accounting, compliance and reporting processes. The role will develop and manage the regional finance resources, plan and optimise group cash flows and intra group trading, and ensure the robustness of financial controls.

Your key focus will be:

  • Oversee the group financial control function and adherence to policies and procedures, working autonomously under the guidance and oversight of the Director of Finance.
  • Responsible for managing the global financial operations and control team, and developing a highly capable, flexible and effective team, leading by example.
  • Instils a ‘service orientated’ ethos of finance within the business - nurtures financial know-how, cadence and interest in finance across the wider business.
  • Delivers business partnering to key stakeholders regarding financial performance and planning, highlighting areas of underperformance and providing advice and guidance.
  • Manage and improve the group’s financial systems and processes, through supporting the selection, implementation and enhancement of systems and platforms to deliver first-class financial operations and reporting.
  • Develop and enforce the group’s internal control environment, through a robust yet efficient system of internal controls, checks and balances to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Lead all aspects of group financial accounting:
    • Maintain accurate and complete books of account to defined standards and in accordance with the group’s accounting policies, structured to enable optimal performance reporting;
  • Manage revenue recognition in accordance with the group’s accounting policies;
  • Manage capital expenditure and fixed asset accounting;
  • Control intercompany transactions;
  • Define and manage standard, efficient and timely month-end and year-end processes
  • Manage group reporting:
    • Ensure adherence to all financial reporting deadlines across the group.
    • Consolidate group results including accounting for JVs and investments.
    • Prepare, validate and review month-to-date and year-to-date results versus plan and prior year in readiness for performance reporting and analysis.
    • Manage the group’s statutory reporting requirements and audit procedures.
    • Conduct intercompany audit and compliance procedures.
  • Manage the integration of acquired businesses, ensuring all controls, reporting, processes, and systems are harmonised across the group.
  • Ownership of the Group’s cash management, adhering to the agreed controls and strategies in the Group’s treasury policy, ensuring the robust and secure custodianship of Company funds; and preparing cash flow forecasts to plan forward currency and exchange needs, to support effective and optimal foreign exchange.
  • Ensuring the efficient management of group working capital (accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventories).
  • Manage group tax compliance in conjunction with external advisers (payroll taxes, sales taxes, corporation/income taxes, withholding taxes), oversee claims for rebates and reliefs.
  • Provide support as required to the Head of FP&A for business planning.
  • Support the Director of Finance and CCFO with other financial matters as required.

  • Strong people leadership skills, capable of training, developing, and motivating the finance team in the skills, behaviours and values required to thrive in our culture and deliver best-in-class performance.
  • Delivery focused – able to autonomously meet agreed deadlines and targets through the rigorous and consistent application of the above skillsets.
  • Well-versed in the development and maintenance of strong internal control environments.
  • Accomplished in the operation and improvement of financial accounting systems and processes (ideally experienced in selecting and implementing a replacement finance / ERP system).
  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with significant previous experience in a financial control role within an international industrial sector business:
    • Deep knowledge of revenue accounting / recognition particularly with respect to complex long term projects;
    • Deep understanding of core financial metrics and KPIs;
    • Strong working knowledge of IFRS
