We currently have an opportunity for a Group Direct Tax Manager to join our team based in Exeter. Joining us on a full-time permanent basis, you will receive a competitive salary of circa £90,000 per annum, plus up to £8,000 relocation package and excellent benefits.
 
This role can be offered as a hybrid position working out of our Exeter or Bristol offices 2 days per week.
 
About the role
 
As our Group Direct Tax Manager,you will be dedicated to leading direct tax advice, reporting and compliance for the group. As a leading infrastructure business, the group is forecasting an upward growth trajectory as the business focuses on increasing environmental investment and broadening its geographical reach.
 
The Group Direct Tax Manager will report to the Group Head of Tax and Capital Control with responsibility for all direct tax matters for the Group, some of which can be particularly complex. You will be the subject matter expert for key senior stakeholders around the business, so resilience and being an excellent communicator at all levels will be essential.
 
You will be part of a small team, all of whom work collaboratively to ensure we follow best practice with regards to the group’s tax affairs. You will be supported in your role by a Group Senior Tax accountant and Tax Trainee who amongst other things also provide direct tax support to the group.
 

What you’ll be doing:

  • You will take all responsibility for the Group’s direct tax compliance obligations ensuring that all returns are submitted on time, all payments are made on time and that the right amount of tax is reported. That includes understanding the Group and reviewing the upcoming changes in tax legislation and ensuring these are applied accordingly to the Group.
  • You will also be responsible for the Group’s tax reporting, building on our strong reporting reputation, our processes need to be optimised to ensure that the team is able to provide accurate tax data for the Group in the most time efficient way. Reporting includes both statutory and OFWAT regulatory requirements.
  • You will also be an effective business partner, by establishing relationships with key stakeholders and getting out into the business to establish how it operates to ensure its commercial operations are as tax efficient as possible.

What we are looking for:

  • CTA Qualified
  • Application of IFRS complex technical accounting
  • Good understanding of UK corporation tax
  • Articulate and able to present strong business cases
  • Ability to influence peers and Directors persuasively
  • A high level of analytical and reporting writing/development skills
  • Experience with CT tax return and provisioning software
