Overview
The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the upkeep of the 120-acre grounds of the campus community, including lawn care, snow removal and general maintenance/cleaning areas outside of the buildings. In addition, the Manager is responsible for maintaining the equipment, overseeing the maintenance of the Community’s vehicles, signage, and outside lawn furniture and decorations for holidays.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Coordinate Lawn Care
- Give leadership and serve as supervisor to the grounds staff, organizing, scheduling, supervising and evaluating overall lawn maintenance, pond management and other responsibilities.
- Oversee and assist in care, including mowing, fertilizing, seeding, edging walks and curbs, and use of herbicides and other chemicals, as needed.
- Cut down, remove, trim, plant, trees, shrubs and flowers.
- Respond appropriately to residents’ requests and complaints.
Snow Removal and Ice Control
- Coordinate and assist the timely and effective removal of snow from the streets, walks, driveways and other common areas of walking/car traffic.
- Monitor weather conditions and staffing needs during times of storms, which include potential ice/snow removal, to assure quick response.
- Maintain adequate equipment for all seasons and staff for weather related needs, which will include irregular and extra hours for Manager and staff
- Respond to resident and staff concerns within reasonable guidelines of providing a safe environment.
General Maintenance and Curb Appeal
- Start each day with a drive through campus to survey items that need to be done, such as limbs down, signs leaning, areas needing to be swept, trash picked up, cars parked illegally, damage to facilities, lights out, etc.
- On a regular basis, the front entrance, circle driveway and visitor parking lots should be swept, vacuumed, blown, etc., to remove debris and increase the Community’s “curb appeal.”
- Maintain street signs and parking signs; repair and maintain outdoor furniture and place funeral signs appropriately and timely for services.
- Maintain neat, organized, and efficient work spaces (barns).
- Assist in keeping streets, curbs, sidewalks and driveways in good repair. f Handle other duties as may be assigned by the Administrator.
Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED is preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Valid Indiana driver’s license. CDL preferred. Pesticide License preferred.

Experience: One to five years in grounds maintenance or related work preferred.
