About the Role

TAAF believes in the power of awareness, conversation, and messaging to advance our mission to serve the Asian American and Pacific Islander community in their pursuit of belonging and prosperity that is free from discrimination, slander, and violence. We are looking for a Graphic Designer to translate creative concepts into visually appealing and engaging designs primarily for our digital channels including social media, newsletters, and website. This role will work closely with the Creative Manager and Social Media Strategist to develop TAAF’s social media identity and help express our brand in fresh and exciting ways across digital media. As a young and growing organization, we are constantly exploring and experimenting with ideas that manifest our brand guidelines into compelling social content. We welcome the Graphic Designer to play a key role in building our visual brand with us and upleveling our content to capture new audiences. Applicants should share a portfolio along with their application to showcase their design work in social, among other creative projects and skillsets if available. 

Responsibilities

  • Translate the TAAF brand into unique, powerful, and purposeful creative concepts with creative and strategic direction
  • Work with Social Media Strategist and Creative Manager to design daily social media and digital content
  • Participate in brainstorming and ideation sessions to strategize and visualize social campaign ideas
  • Develop creative templates to use in our social media content series
  • Introduce motion graphics into our digital content
  • Design event collateral (including invitations, on-stage concepts, event materials, etc) for major TAAF events
  • Partner and collaborate across TAAF departments to help bring their content visions to life
  • Manage design work, uploads, and approvals with a clear and organized process
  • All other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Five or more years of experience in a graphic design role with experience designing for social (within marketing, advertising, branding, design, agency, or at an in-house brand.) 
  • Undergraduate degree in a creative field, or the equivalent of education and relevant experience.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (primarily Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign), and Figma
  • Experience in social media strategy preferred
  • Experience in motion graphics/GIF/AfterEffects
  • Ability to concept design solutions with limited direction
  • Ability to think outside of the box when it comes to visualizing content
  • Ability to transform organizational narratives into simple, digestible, and inspirational messages
  • Strong communicator with the ability to take feedback from multiple sources and translate that into design.
  • Possesses high attention to detail and exercises good judgment
  • Knowledge of nonprofit, advertising, creative, and marketing space
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced and rapidly changing “startup” environment while meeting deadlines
  • Strong typography and content formatting and layout skills

Working Hours

  • Requires occasional weekend, off-hours, or evening work. 

Compensation and Benefits

  • TAAF provides competitive compensation and benefits including health insurance (including dental and vision) and a 401k retirement plan for eligible employees
  • Anticipated salary for this role is $65,000
