Graphic Designer

This is a hybrid role based in our Los Angeles office and will require you to be in office Tuesdays and Thursdays.

What’s so interesting about this role?

Grindr is seeking an experienced Graphic Designer to help maintain and evolve Grindr’s visual identity across a variety of brand channels and touchpoints. The role will report to the Creative Director and will support the Brand Marketing team in the concepting and execution of a variety of visual assets, in addition to providing design support to various cross-functional and agency partners.

The ability to design for multiple audiences and personas while maintaining overall brand cohesion across channels is paramount. The ideal candidate is equally adept at creating fun, sexy designs that resonate with Grindr users and the larger LGBTQ+ community, while also supporting cross-functional projects targeting a broader audience of investors, brand partners, and more.

What’s the job?   

  • Concept, develop, and execute design assets and materials in support of our social-first, content-led brand strategy
  • Ensure consistency of Grindr’s visual brand across multiple internal & external channels  (social, video, in-app, web, etc.)
  • Provide design support to various internal teams including Product, Brand Partnerships, People and Places, Talent Acquisition, and additional functions as needed
  • Work closely with the Creative Director and agency partners to define, document, and evolve Grindr’s visual brand in support of expanding product features and use cases
  • Collaborate with a growing team of designers and copywriters to bring visual ideas to life, iterate based on feedback, and adapt assets for distribution across multiple formats, channels, and touchpoints

What we'll love about you  

  •  3+ years of graphic design experience for a major brand or agency
  • A diverse portfolio demonstrating a meticulous eye for detail and strong understanding of design principles across typography, layout, digital formats, etc.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard design tools (Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Deep knowledge of the Grindr app, the LGBTQ+ community, and trends in the online dating space and queer pop culture
  • Versatility and the ability to adopt and master multiple visual styles, from creating fun, sex-positive lifestyle designs to supporting corporate comms initiatives
  • Strong opinions, loosely held—the ideal candidate has a confident point of view as well as the ability to set ego aside, be receptive to others’ feedback, and adapt as needed to achieve the best possible results in support of company goals and objectives 

We’ll really swoon if you have 

  • Experience with bringing designs to life through animation and/or motion design. Bonus points for 3D design skills
  • Knowledge of additional design and project management software like Asana and Figma
  • Knowledge of product design (UI/UX design)
  • Experience with web design (particularly Webflow) and HTML
  • Proven examples of social-first content and campaigns with an understanding of the various social platforms

Grindr is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This base pay range is for the U.S. and is not applicable to locations outside of the U.S. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, location, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role will also be eligible for equity, benefits, and a company bonus program.
