Why should you apply to join the DOF Subsea Graduate Scheme?
Our Graduate Scheme is a two-year program during which you will get to spend time in several key departments so that you develop a good understanding of what is required to be a Subsea Project Engineer. Our graduates also get opportunities to work offshore on one (or several) of our construction vessels to ensure they understand what it takes to deliver engineering from tender through to execution. The department rotations give you experience with Projects, Commercial, QHSE, Survey, Procurement, Drafting and others which we believe give you a good overview of our operations. When it comes to offshore, we aim to get you a trip offshore as soon as possible to get the experience of being on a vessel and being part of the team delivering the work.
While we have a structured rotation schedule, we also work with the graduates to ensure they can play to their strengths. This might mean that we change the schedule as we go to make sure it works for you. You will be given a mentor and supported by the whole team here at DOF – everyone wants to make sure our graduates feel at home and are given the experience they need to become the next generation of Subsea Engineers. We choose to only hire a small number of graduates each year so that we can give them the right level of focus. At DOF we pay attention to what you need to succeed. It’s in our interest as well as your own.
We are looking for people that are keen, flexible, and open to new situations. A lot of the graduate scheme is based on working alongside people and experiencing the practical side of engineering, so we look for graduates who are based in the north east of Scotland, within commuting distance of our offices by the harbour here in Aberdeen. We look for people that show they are hard working, proactive and conscientious. You’ll receive on the job training to help you move from your university degree in engineering to the delivery of projects in subsea engineering, and we actively encourage you to work towards a Professional Qualification, such as engineering chartership. If you’re looking for a job with a lot of variety which will set you up for a career in the energy industry, we want to hear from you so apply today!
