Position Purpose
- Developing learning materials and reflective activities for use by participants in the Spring 2023 immersive Intercultural Communicative Competence course on Conflict Transformation and Reconciliation in the Balkans.
Core Responsibilities
- Curating resources on topics related to the languages of the former Yugoslavia, the history of the Yugoslav conflicts of 1991-1995, language and nationalism, and conflict transformation and peacebuilding theory
- Creating language learning lessons and linking to resources for learning of the Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian language and its Cyrillic and Latin alphabets
- Creating reflection activities for readings on the Croatian, Bosnian, and Serbian perspectives on the Yugoslav conflicts; models of language and peacebuilding; models of conflict transformation
- Creating reflection activities for post-trip debriefing
- Communicating with Thor Sawin about these activities and incorporating feedback
- Posting these resources and activities in WordPress and the course Canvas
- Assisting in the planning and publicity of a share-out for the MIIS campus about the trip at the end of April 2023
Position Prerequisites
- Be a graduate student at MIIS
- Have experience in Eastern Europe and interest in teaching, learning and peacebuilding
- Willingness to learn new digital tools for pedagogy
- Access to internet
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
- Working from home between 10 and 20 hours at a computer screen reading and creating digital resources
