- Execute the mission of Cavista with focus on Botswana, build strong stakeholder relationships with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and industry associations.
- Monitor and analyze relevant policy and regulatory developments that may impact the company's operations or market position.
- Inform Cavista business leaders of policy and regulatory trends and developments, and coordinate with them on the development and execution of the company’s agenda to protect and secure business growth.
- Lead advocacy efforts in Botswana on issues of importance to ensure effective strategy toward shared goals.
- Represent the company at meetings, conferences, and events with external stakeholders to advance our interests and promote our brand.
- Collaborate with internal teams across the business to develop and execute strategies and provide local market intelligence.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in government affairs and external relations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, International Relations, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 15 years of proven experience in government affairs, external relations, or public affairs.
- Strong understanding of government structures, policy development processes, and regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to navigate complex political landscapes and build relationships at all levels of government and industry associations.
- Demonstrated ability to strategize, plan, and execute initiatives to achieve specific advocacy objectives.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to assess the impact of policies on the company's operations and make data-driven recommendations.
- Highly adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle challenges with a solutions-oriented approach.
- A strong network of contacts in the government and political space.
