The Government Audit Coordinator oversees Recovery Audit Contractor and other regulatory activity, along with Health Information Management (HIM) personnel required to process release of information (ROI) requests to comply with required deadlines. This position serves as the site site administrator for the policy and procedure system for Torrance Memorial Medical Center.
Core Competencies
- Oversees the procedural, operational and substantive elements related to the RAC program.
- Oversees staff and work assignments related to release of information & processing requests from the RAC and other regulatory or review agencies.
- Ensures the maintenance of the RAC activity database and notifications of the RAC Review Team.
- Ensures the processing of requests from other government agencies such as CERT (Comprehensive Error Rate Testing); ZPIC (Zone Program Integrity Contractors); CDAC (Clinical Data Abstraction Center); etc.
- Oversees and coordinates the activities of the HIM Medicolegal Correspondents who process all subpoenas and requests for information received by the HIM Department. Runs appropriate reports as required by Manager.
- Serves as the system administrator and coordinates activities in support of the policy & procedure management system used by Torrance Memorial Health System.
- Responds to RAC and other government requests within federally mandated timeframes and follows through to completion.
- Ensures staff respond to patient requests for assistance in accessing the patient portal or online request for electronic patient records.
- Tracks status of all RAC record request activity using the automated tracking system.
- Analyzes audit and RAC findings/reports and communicates to appropriate individuals and committees.
- Maintains current knowledge of federal record request programs and communicates to appropriate individuals.
Department Specific Competencies
- Resolves problems through innovative and skillful methods of assessment, intervention and evaluation including Basic Process Improvement with Lean tools and techniques of problem identification, data collection and analysis, as appropriate.
- Understands and uses as needed the Basic Performance Improvement (BPI) techniques such as Flowcharts, Fishbones, Histograms, Control Charts, and utilizes lean methodology.
Education
Additional InformationAssociates degree or higher in Health Information Technology or related field required.
Experience
Additional Information3 year experience in Health Information Management or health care, business, or management related experience.
Compensation Range
$30.24 - $46.20 / Hour
