Primary Function of Multiport Product Manager:

As a Product Portfolio Manager, you will manage new and established da Vinci® Multiport products across the entire product lifecycle.  You will manage the Multiport Instruments and Accessories portfolio by forecasting, launching products into emerging markets, collaborating on product improvements, updating requirements to existing products, and partnering with Commercial and Corporate Marketing teams to ensure successful commercial strategy execution. You will work with Product Operations to ensure portfolio is right-sized and be the expert throughout the entire product lifecycle. You will partner with the Director of Product Portfolio Management to propose improvements to the existing product portfolio to delight the customer and strengthen the da Vinci Instruments and Accessories brand.

In your first year, you can expect to:

  • Assist in managing the Multiport product roadmap and lifecycle in alignment with the multiport portfolio objectives.  Develop business justification for recommendations and gain alignment across key stakeholders on project prioritization.
  • Develop the business justification for new products and features by working with customers and company stakeholders.  Develop business analyses, including competitive assessments, needs assessments, financial analyses, and market-sizing, to facilitate sound data-driven decision making.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the surgical treatments for applicable indications, including monitoring and consuming clinical literature, attending medical society meetings and engaging with physician key opinion leaders (KOLs).
  • Use qualitative and quantitative market research methods and direct customer interviews and observations to develop insights that inform the product roadmap. Refine requirements with feedback from customers, Intuitive Medical Officers and clinical development engineering.
  • Work closely with our engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to address gaps in product quality, functionality and supply continuity
  • Own the top-level forecast for the da Vinci I&A portfolio during the Sales, Inventory, Operations Planning (SIOP) process.  Suggest improvements for greater accuracy of short-term and long-term forecasts.  Build allocation models and policies when supply shortages arise.  Work with Regional Marketing teams on allocation strategy.
  • Communicate with customers regarding product improvements, product launches, and product discontinuations. Manage customer questions and concerns regarding product function and safety.
  • Convey product value proposition to global marketing for global product positioning and messaging.
  • Measure product success by monitoring product adoption and seeking post-launch product feedback for improvements.
  • Represent the Product Portfolio when Field Actions arise, reviewing communication tactics and recovery of portfolio supply.
  • Understand competitive, emerging and complementary technology and its potential impact on Intuitive’s product lines.

Required Expertise

We believe you are a good fit for this role if you have the following qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree required (MBA Preferred) 
  • Minimum 4 or more years professional experience in product management, operations technology management (OTM), marketing, finance, product lifecycle management, or equivalent role
  • Demonstrated interest in healthcare, hospital operations and finance
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, professional manner
  • Excellent teamwork skills with proven ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines to ensure product success and ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority. This includes the ability to lead in bridging communication between engineering, planning, marketing, sales, and customers. The ability to context-switch between cross-functional groups is key.
  • Presentation skills to internal & external audiences including leaders at the Sr. Director level and above
  • Self-directed with awareness to proactively seek advice and feedback when needed
  • Ability to source information independently and not only identify issues, but proactively propose solutions
  • Quantitative mindset, proven ability to investigate open-ended problems and work cross-functionally to implement initiatives
  • Ability to prioritize and work creatively to smoothly manage multiple competing deadlines and tasks
  • Strong knowledge of the MS Office product suite. Moderate experience or knowledge with Zoom Whiteboard, Tableau, Agile, and Polarion.
  • Ability to travel up to 15%
