The Global Process Lead in Master Data Management (MDM) is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and optimization of MDM processes across the organization. This role involves working closely with business units, functional colleagues in the transformation program, members in Master Data Management team (MDM), external partners, and Digital & Information Technology(D&IT) colleagues across regions to ensure data consistency, accuracy, and quality throughout the enterprise. The Global Process Lead ensures that global master data management processes align with business needs, compliance standards, and data governance frameworks.
The Process Lead, MDM is responsible for identifying, driving and managing data projects and supporting the roll out activities related to all data management elements in Santen’s global business transformation program across functional data with key focus on supply chain data. This role also demands responsibility for local (Japan) embedding of data management processes, roles & responsibilities and applications, as well as connected data cleansing and migration activities.

Global Responsibilities:
- Take the lead role in global master data management (MDM) projects, managing regional and local specificities and interests. Identifies gaps and develops MDM skills and teams, play an active role in promoting the value of consistent data quality, process and governance from an excellent understanding of Santen’s overall objectives.
- Build, monitor and strengthen collaborative relationships with data owners and SME’s across functions, such as Finance, Supply Chain, External manufacturing, Commercial, Marketing, Quality, Regulatory etc. Act as a key enabler and corner stone to drive high quality and consistency of the data to provide the necessary business information.
- Contribute and ensure that data standards documentation/Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and training materials are state of the art, clarify and establish data ownership, business rules, maintenance processes and monitoring activities while ensuring compliance. Ensure users’ training and promote usage of MDM best practices.
- Proactively supports subject matter experts and end users both in their daily MDM tasks and business project requirements, including new product launches and functional process improvements.
- Take responsibilities for master data operations across Santen globally as well as locally in Japan. Ensure that BAU support is timely and well supported by dedicated DataOps team and changes/enhancement are executed well by collaborating with all the stakeholders.
- Provide guidance and support to MDM team members i.e. BIM (Business information managers), DataOps team members, AMS support team and external consultants.
- Ensure key master data domains like Material, Vendor, Customer etc. are well managed and supported by following governance practices throughout the full lifecycle of master data and continuously improve depending upon the business need.
- Represent MDM team from master data management perspectives in various forums like PGB (Process Governance Board), CAB (Change Advisory Board), GLE (Global Launch Excellence)/NPI (New Product Introduction) etc.
- Close collaboration with SAP Center of Excellence (CoE) team to provide the required support for existing SAP S/4 HANA ERP application from MDM perspective. Take responsibility of managing MDM systems (Semarchy), associated applications, systems and ensure that underlying data is consistently available to requested business functions/users.
Regional Responsibilities:
- Connect with business stakeholders in Global and Japan, understand the current master data management processes and develop MDM organization to support Japan business and bring into the common data governance framework.
- Single point of contact for master data management related initiatives and support in Japan for the business transformation project. Work with local business functions, understand the current process and support the transformation into global processes.
- Evaluate the current master data operation support in Japan and explore opportunity to align it with Global data operation support managed by DataOps team.
- Support strategic business transformation project in Japan from master data perspective.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Over 10 years of working experience in IT while at least 5 years in data domains.
- Experience of working with at least one MDM tool and end-to-end MDM implementation.
- Experience of Supply chain processes and relevant associated data.
- Japanese and English proficiency is must.
- Life science industry experience would be ideal an added advantage.
- ERP experience like SAP S/4HANA experience would be an added advantage.

- Data management at global or regional level; Cross functional MDM process management, hands-on experience in an MDM tool, workflow management, data processing
- Experience in executing responsibility for managing data quality and/or, governance, maintenance processes, cleansing & migration, basic data modeling.
- Experience in managing MDM initiatives, continuous improvement, and Change Management.
- Experience in managing key master data like Material, Product, Customer, Vendor etc.
- Experience in documenting (business) requirements, running or organizing workshops, data modeling, process mapping, writing IT specifications.
- Working with and / or leading teams, projects and programs.
- Experience working in a dynamic and complex environment with multiple product launches, process changes, and numerous business users across geographies.
- Understanding of ERP business process and importance of high-quality master data in end-to-end supply chain.
- Working experience with ERP from a Supply chain or master data perspective.
- Familiarity with data security and privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR).
