Global Head, People, Culture, and Programs

The Head of People, Culture & Programs at Sendbird is a dynamic role responsible for steering and enhancing our People & Culture function on a global scale and driving organizational success. This role encompasses the management of People Operations, Talent Acquisition, and People, Development, and Experience Partners (HR Business Partners), with direct reports located in Seoul, Korea, and the United States.

The position is responsible for managing and continuously developing a best-in-class People & Culture function. The scope of the role includes helping steer the culture, talent acquisition and talent/performance management, compensation/benefits, training/learning and development, HR operations (including systems and compliance for the function), and employee relations.

The position is a collaborative partner to Sendbird’s senior leadership team. The candidate must be comfortable working in a dynamic, action-biased environment to support the business's growth through operational contributions and improvements. The candidate will report to Sendbird’s CFO, Joe Pagano.

What you will do

  • Work closely with the extended leadership team at Sendbird to steer the culture of the organization as it manages growth and the associated complexities.
  • Develop and execute the global People strategy aligned with the company's business objectives.
  • Through the lens of better-than-the-best and continuous improvement, assess the infrastructure that the People Operations and People, Development, and Experience teams have built and contribute new thoughts, ideas, and approaches, as needed.
  • Partner closely with the Head of Talent Acquisition on our journey to achieving success with hiring and providing support and representation during executive sessions.
  • Partner with functional leaders to build leadership capability within their own teams. Design with them how their teams will optimize organizational effectiveness.
  • Support a culture of high performance through goal setting and alignment, helping managers have impactful feedback conversations with their teams, architecting development paths/programs, and managing performance.
  • Improve key training and development programs that increase the early productivity of new employees and provide people managers at different levels with the right tools to be successful leaders.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of global competitive compensation and benefits programs.
  • Help shape organizational communication across our global employee sites and teams, ensuring clear communication of goals, expectations, and behaviors aligning with core values and growth objectives.
  • Mentor and develop a world-class team (currently 6 FTEs).
  • Put the right governance in place to ensure consistent approaches and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in each of the different countries in which Sendbird operates.

Who You Are

  • You possess a deep understanding of modern People practices and how to work closely with leaders to scale a culture as a globally distributed organization grows in headcount.
  • Data-oriented and a good problem solver, inclined toward practical solutions that address business objectives.
  • You bring good business and personal judgment to the table and will build credibility with Sendbird’s leaders as a sound advisor and partner to them on culture, organizational, and talent topics.
  • You will be operational, willing to roll up your sleeves, and work in a hands-on way to implement programs, anticipating problems and architecting solutions.
  • Creative, innovative, and flexible in building the right solutions and taking approaches that make sense for Sendbird

What you bring to the table:

  • B.S. or B.A. degree and a minimum 7+ years of relevant, progressive career experience
  • Strong working knowledge of multiple Human Resources disciplines, including benefits, employee relations, talent development, compensation, and employee engagement
  • Strong working knowledge of HR policies and laws 
  • Experience with a wide variety of systems and tools 

Compensation:

Our US benefits include (but are not limited to)

Pay Transparency

For cash compensation, we set standard ranges for all roles based on function, level, and geographic location.  To determine our ranges, we utilize a variety of compensation data benchmarked against similar-stage growth companies.   A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this role is $250,000 - $290,000.  This range is specific to the San Francisco Bay market.  We consider several factors when making final compensation decisions, including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs that may cause your specific offer to vary from the amount listed above.

Flexible Work Policy

We offer a flexible work schedule at Sendbird.  We also value collaboration and relationship building.  With those values in mind, we require all employees within an hour's commute range of their local office to gather with their team in the office three days per week as a minimum.  Some of our roles require a more frequent in-office schedule.  Please work with your manager to understand the office time requirements for your position.
